Front bumper coming off
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before. The front bumper on my 05 evo seems to not meet up correctly where it touches the fender. My passenger side is fine but the driver side seems to have a 1/2 inch gap in between. You can visibly see some sort of white plastic piece in between that i'm assuming is the clip or screw that holds the bumper to the fender. I've never hit anything or bottomed out before so I was wondering if this is common. My car only has 5800 miles on it.
Sounds like the plastic insert came out of the fender.
If you do not want to take this to the dealer to have it looked at, then try the following.
Using a 10mm socket, remove the screw from the plastic insert. You can access the screw head from inside the fenderwell.
After you get the screw out (and you may have to remove some of the plastic clip holding the splash guards),
open up the space between the fender and bumper (carefully) adn re-insert the plastic into the fender. It should "pop" in with some force and be tight.
Then, hold the bumper up to the fender as tight as you can, and re-install the screw.
I have removed/reinstalled my bumper cover countless times, so you should not have any troubles.
Now, if the plastic insert wont stay tightly in the fender, that is a different problem.

Thanks that was very informative. I'll probably just bring it to the dealer just incase that plastic clip is not holding up. It seems kinda odd that it would do it all by itself.
