Whats up with all the yellow evos' that cant sell?

Guys/Gals

Is it me or has anyone noticed a plethora of 03' Lightning Yellow Evo's for sale........that no one wants to buy?

I've been trying to sell mine for a few months now, in the 22,500 range, with 32k miles and a factory warranty till january of 07, and moderate upgrades, no luck

A friend local to me has 39k miles, an AEM ems and a few other tidbits, and has been trying to get 21-22 out of his for alot longer, no luck

DSMmotorsport has been trying to sell his for damn cheap at ~18k in close to stock form

I have browsed the classifieds quite often and seen more yellow evo's than anything, that still arent selling

Anyone have an idea what the heck is going on?

THEY ARE YELLOW!!!
The car is pretty flashy in that color...not everyone wants that kind of attention. That's why I bought silver. It blends into everything because it's such a neutral color. Good luck

"purecoda"....bite me all powerful english major!

I didnt have much of a choice, I wanted an evo bad when i was out searching for cars, I found mine at a dealership for a really great price (with only 21k miles) and several thousand in mods

Seemed like the right thing to do at the time

I like the Yellow myself, but i would not buy an Evo in that Color. Red and Yellow are a No go for me. TB, WW, EB are low key colors to go with here in Florida you know the Street Racing thing and all.

I don't think it's the fact it draws too much attention...unless by attention you mean people think yellow is ugly...

Not many cars can pull off yellow, and personally (this is just my personal opinion) I don't think the Evo can.

For the right price, someone will pick it up. That usally mean dropping the price and taking a lose. The one for 18K is a great deal, compared to a WW going for 23K or 24K. With the difference, you could paint it what ever you like and probably better then factory paint job.

Maybe you could offer a re-paint allowance, kind of like a carpet allowance in a used house. Just to get the fence-sitters thinking and their interest up. (yeah, I'm reachin' a bit)

There are very few Evo colors that I really like. i can find fault with all of them frankly, but of course that's only one man's opinion. If I were looking for a used Evo, I would look more closely at the car's condition.

Yellow doesn't bother me, it looks great a the track, and I think it looks better with the blue Recaro's than red (I own a red).

FWIW, I have a nieghbor that just recently bought a used yellow one and as I recall, it was of very little concern to him, he had his favorite colors, but this car was solid, and that's what mattered to him.

Good luck

Its all about personal preference. I'm a flashy kinda guy and figured yellow would get the most looks, plus I've always been fascinated with yellow evo's.. to each his own

Someone out there is looking for a yellow EVO. Advertise as much as you can. I'm sure you're not the only person in the world that would buy a yellow EVO at a good price.

I agree, tint the windows and lights and you can get a great look goin'. At least that's something I'd consider.

ever think it's about price?
I sold my ly '03 in about a week(4 weeks ago) for 21,500 with mild mods(tbe, cams, xede, intake, etc) and 11k on the clock. should have held out for maybe 22,500, but I think that unless it's bone stock the modded cars are not worth as much as people think they are. everyone knows that once you put mods into a car, that money will never come back out. your car is priced correctly according to nada (21900 dealer trade in price/24k retail), but nada doesn't track private party sales, and with cars like the evo where they are in low supply/demand and not much action used at dealers, nada prices will be inflated slightly. I personally think that a used evo with the mileage that you list should be around 20-20,500 used. 24k dealer sell according to nada? you can buy a brand new one for 28. who's going to pay 4k less for a 32kmile car and maybe, maybe not a warranty depending on how mod-friendly the dealership is where you live..

for what it's worth though, the lightning yellow color looks great on the evo and I think it's one of the best colors for the 03(along with blue)...
