changing 10.5 hotside
changing 10.5 hotside
is it true that when you change the hotside on and 04 to and 10.5 you have to be carefull that the turbo is balanced? do i have to bring it to a place and have him do it co that is balanced and it would blow up after other wise? how much will a shop charge? what dose it take to change the hot side?

No, where did you hear that? I'm curious, because I haven't heard of that. I don't think any of us who have switched their hotsides have done that.
It doesn't take anything to change the hotside except for maybe new bolts/studs...not sure what you mean, though.

completely untrue. When you balance a turbo, you balance the rotating parts, not the compressor housing or exhaust housing. The 10.5 hotside doesn't move, it does not need to be balanced after a 10.5 hotside install.
a shop that i go to is telling me that i shouldnt try to atempt it. i have done everything else to my car and iam not someone that isnt good with there hands i build what i drive but it worrys me that i might blow somehting
dude its a cake job, like 1.5 hours max. Make sure you hit up the bolts and nuts with some pb blaster a few days prior and then everyday untill you do the swap, then they come right out. If not they may break, and then its kinda a pain. But if you can change a tire you can change a hot side, not hard at all.
You have to tell us who is giving you this false information. Also, try to keep it down to one thread next time, haha (ask mods to delete the other one).
There's tons and tons of us who have done this, and I haven't heard of any turbos blowing up.

Maybe he's referring to being careful when removing the housing off the turbo. When I installed mine, it seemed like every effing single bolt was welded on. Once I finally got to removing the clamp around the housing, it seemed like I was done. No. The housing wouldn't come off the turbo at all. Tried to soak it with some lubricant, tried prying it off, nothing. So the whole turbo came off and we wrestled with it until the damn housing came off the nub. Point is, if you eff up the impeller blades when wrestling to get the housing off, you could destroy your turbo.
ok now while iam doing the housing should i to the o2 housing to and how about a mainifold?
is there any one thats better than the othere?
iam looking for a reliable car but i want the power i dont want a junck part that will brake and crack

Why did you start a thread twice on the same subject in the same section? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hreadid=199145

Yes, it is MUCH EASIER if you do the manifold and o2 all at the same time as the hotside. That way, you can take the whole unit off at once, then separate them off the car. You make the switch, then put it all back on the car as one unit and tighten it all down.
There have been tons and tons of threads where we talked about the manifold and o2 housing to use. Please get in the habit of searching. You would have already known that what you were told by that shop was bogus, and you'd know what manifold and o2 housings are suggested. I suggest buying a ported/coated 10.5 hotside from Buschur while getting your stock manifold ported/coated, then finish it off with a Buschur coated SS O2 housing.
