SW EGT gauge question

I just got my 1600 degree Stewart Warner EGT gauge. I haven't even opened the package yet and the needle is sitting at 620 degrees. Is this normal, or should I call the vendor and return it? Thanks for the help!

Call the vendor and have him check other SW gauges, and see where the needles are sitting at? but im sure it once hooked up it will function properly... Never hurts to double check though

I had an oil temp gauge that was defective from them, and had it switched out. It sat at 160 all the time, and somehow was outputting 12v's on my signal input wire.

Just in case anyone is curious, I hooked it up anyway and it works great. Just as levo2nr said, once there was power and a signal from the probe, it worked.
