should i be worried?
hey guys i just got my defi bf gauges in, i have a boost, egt and oil temp, well i remember someone wrote that if you go over 1600 degrees faren... on your egt, your pistons will melt, well sometimes when i drive hard, my temp is sitting right around 1450 or so, is this normal? should i be concerned, i mean i don't have any major major mods, just tbe, and intake, waiting for tune. Also my oil temp, what is normal, and what is the danger zone?

i love this forum
. No really..more than half the forums i visit are D*ckheads. Especially Supraforums. i expected a bit more maturity from them seeing how half of those guys are old hags or getting there. I went into 1 of their threads the other day. A guy asked a question. There was 2-3 pages of COMPLETELY useless information and bashing.

1550 Fahrenheit equals 843 celsius
I run up close to 2000 degrees fahrenheit wot which is 1093 degrees celsius
your thinking of 1600 celsius **** will start to melt
heres a conversion Fahrenheit - 32 /9x5= celsius

my car runs great like this, idles between 900 and 1100F wot has gotten up to 2000F i let off when i saw that and now average is between 1200 and 1800F with wot and red lights of daily driving, unless the gauge is wasted seems good.

thanks a lot guys for those that replied with good input, as for the guys who just love to bash, i have nothing to say. Yeah i was told before that 1600 degrees F was the melting point, but if some of you guys ran at 2000, i'm thinking maybe it is 1600 celsius? warr you said that guys motor couldn't run that hot, do you mean that it's not 1600 celsius?
Listen to Warrtalon. 1600F degrees is when alunminum starts to melt and when you have an aluminum head it doesn't make for a good combination. If you go past 1600F degrees I would be worried. DSM's were the exact same way. My 95 tsi would go to about 1550F at wot but never went past 1600F. But as I said before you don't need to worry about it because your car is basically stock. It isn't going to go past 1600F because you have never messed with boost or fuel. Unless you plan to mod like crazy all you got out of the deal was fancy guage and more useless worries.
