What would this be called?!

I looked in the first sticky about Part numbers, the only thing that seemed to fit it was Gearshift Lever Retainer but I don't think thats it..anyone? I'm going crazy trying to figure out what it is..I just keep calling it a shift knob spacer lol.

wait...it has an actual function?!?!?! So I wouldn't be able to use it on a 95 tsi??

lol um yes. you have to lift it up in order to get into reverse
