horrible sound when i lay off the gas

I installed a manual boost control yesterday. and now when I lay off the gas the car feels like it stutters and a machine gun sound. I am only running 1.3 on the oem boost gauge. Is it because of the stock bov It is worrying me alot

Take out the boost controller and air intake, put back in the stock parts and see if the problem persists.

the intake has been in forever it just started when the mbc was installed. Is it just to much for a plastic bov

did you take off the BOV when installing the MBC ?

If so check to see if the BOV is in backwards ...

My guess is fluttering BOV or compressor surge caused by a very sudden lift off in high boost situations (higher gears).

If you floor it in 5th gear @ ~2500 rpm and lift quick as soon as the turbo starts to spool you can duplicate this effect in a stock evo. It is cuased by the throttle body closing and the pressurized air back flowing abruptly.

1. Don't lift abruptly under boost
3. turn down your boost (or lose the MBC altogether/ make sure it's pumbed correctly)
4. get an adjustable BOV (I don't recomend fixing probs with more new parts though)
5. I completely mis-diagnosed your problem and your sh*t is about to explode!

I don't think its your stock BOV, how you install the MBC ?? double check the installation of the MBC !

IF it sounds like a loud barking dog your DV is in backwards. If you tapped your DV line to your MBC to control boost your line maybe leaking and causing the DV not to work correctly. Which method did you use to connect the mbc, bov way or turbo?
