Anybody here got their faded wing repainted and recleared coated/carbon fiber or etc on this evo 8 wing? I got mines replaced to an IX, but wanna get the 8 wing from my friend which is faded and outta warranty, and get that one repainted/coated and stuff.. Has anybody done this and got pics?? If so please hook me up asap if you can, I am might do this soon. Thanks

 

i sanded and repainted my evo 8 wing, looks better but not the same as a new one.

 

Does the wing come apart? My left upright got damaged by road debris a month after I bought the car. I got a new wing paid by insurance and the shop gave me my old wing back. It's been in the basement for three years. Now my wing is all faded and peeled (plus I think somebody tried to karate chop it) and I want to take it apart. Anybody know how to do it?

 

damn 8- ( I guess ill just keep the IX one on.. Its gay that the dealership only has IX wings now since they dont make the VIII anymore...

 

I had some major clear coat cancer spots on my wing on my '03.

I sanded it down with increasily gritter sandpaper. Started with 180, then 220, then 300 then 400, then 1500, and then 2000.

All wet sanded.

Then I masked off all but the wing itself... the sides were completely covered.

Then I had my body shop put down a couple good layers of clear.

Looks brand new.

 

I just got mine back from the body shop. They stripped all the clear coat off of the carbon fiber blade and recleared it. Cost a couple hundred bucks. Looks great now.

same thing happend to me. i dont like the 9 wing. it looks like it is a pos. mine was never on the car and im selling it. lmao. talk about brand new. i miss my 8 wing.

 

i c.. yea I might take my wing off and go wingless.. How did yours feel going wingless because I havent tried it at high speeds, only around the street before Mitsu put my IX one on.. I might just go wingless and get me an rs trunk, go stealth mode 8- )

yea, if your still under warranty your wing is still covered under the warranty as well.. The 8 wing has carbon fiber on the sides, whereas the 9 wing has the sides covered and hollowed out.
