4g63 moment
4g63 moment
what specific moment, if any, did you know just have to get your eclipse or evo? what made you buy one?
For me, I was at a light on a 3 highway in 1993... passenger in my friends wagon. Next to us was a gsx and camaro z28. The camaro and gax went at it and the gsx pissed on it. From then on I was hooked

Went to the dealer, was supposed to just check out the prices of an evo for the heck of it, i had just finished paying off my 3000gt... 8 hours later, I ended up in an 05 MR in october of 2004.
watching Tommi Makinen catch HUGE air in a VI. Then, the evo vs lambo top gear.
i went down for a test drive, sat in the seat and let the clutch out, and then never wanted to move.

I owned a 91' Eclipse GS (auto), then a 93' Eclipse GS (5spd) back in the day. I then drove my buddy's 95' Eclipse GST, and once I felt the boost kick in that 4G63, and I was hooked! I wanted one since, and about 2 years later, I got my 98' GST and have had it since 99'!

And also in Sport Compact Car when they released info about the RS package.. I was like finally, a car tailored to exactly how I want it.
The Evo vs Lambo video is what put me into an Evo. I was at that point where I knew I would be getting SOME new car in the future, but really wasn't sure yet. I was pondering a lot of things, e36 M3, G35, STi, and Evo.
I saw that video, and I knew I needed this car regardless of what other people thought about it. So yeah, the Lambo vs Evo video really gave me an interest in the evo, I did some reading.... lots of reading, then one day I went for a test drive...
They were reluctant to let me test drive it, but finally they did. The owner of the dealership told me to really open it up, have fun with it (but be careful). First test drive was in the rain so I didn't get too great of feel for it.
A few days later I went to the STi dealership which was just down the street, and test drove the STi. Thats a great car, real solid. I left with a better impression of the STi than my first impression of the Evo. But I thought, what the heck Im just gunna walk down the street and take another look at the Evo (same day comparison would be nice).
I go back to the mitsu dealership, they come out and greet me. I let them know i was down checkin out the STi, so they ask me if I want to test drive the Evo again. It was a dry, sunny day so I said sure. They put me back in the MR, i go for a drive... and I knew thats where my heart was.
Got it that day.

I was shopping around for a decently powerful used car and noticed a used 91 GS-T for sale for pretty cheap. On the way home the headgasket blew. I didn't know anything about cars back then but I was determined to not pay a mechanic for anymore work. So I picked up a shop manual and 3 years later I can put together the engine and suspension blindfolded =) However, I have to admit after watching some of Sheperd's 8 second passes in the Talon I was hooked HARD.
After my brother told me the Evos finally arrived in America. It was night time so Mitsubishi was closed, me and my friends went out there and just stared at it for about an hour. Next day I was there, all over it right in the showroom.
It was before the Evo's were actually released over here I saw a Rally Red one at the St. Louis Auto Show when I lived down there and I told my wife right then that I would own one some day. Well 2 years later I got it
.
