HELP diagnose a problem

The problem is a sound that comes from the front end of the car when braking...when i slightly push the brake there is no sound..but when brake is fully applied there is a single knock..sometimes the sound comes from the driver side and sometimes the passenger side..this happens during normal driving between 25-35mph....the brake is not pressed hard for the abs but enough to stop the car at a light or stop sign..please help thanx....

More often than not this will be the DP hitting one of the braces IF you have a aftermarket DP. While the car is still it looks like you have clearance so 'it fits' but under braking and acceleration the factory motor mount makes quite a bit of movement and can allow the pieces to make contact creating a tapping, banging noise on occasion.

I chased my same noise down forever, checked brakes, checked suspension etc. but it was the hitting of those pieces.

Pull one or both of the braces off then go drive and see, takes only a few minutes to do.

If its the cause, add one or two thick washers to space out on all 5 areas of all braces.

That noise I had sometimes seemed to come from the brakes, sometimes left, sometimes right, sometimes from behind the firewall......it was very misleading for the most part.

I will also add if your DP is stock then check the motor mount, might be bad.

if you got aftermarket pads, some fit loose and make a clunk sound
mostly when going from reverse to foward
