I don't really care for how exposed the battery with those setups though. If you put junk in your trunk it could short across the terminals (yes I see the plastic cover) or puncture the battery, and there is nothing to capture the electrolite acid.

I went with a container like this:



Only about $50 and much safer.

 

You need to put that in a battery box, if that battery explodes, you'll be sorry

I've never seen any battery box that would contain an explosion.
