VIII vs. IX

IS the IX a huge improvement over the VIII? For the people who are waiting to buy an Evo, would you be satisfied with a VIII if there were no more IX's? It is true that the IX is better in terms of performance and looks, but would you feel bad that you missed out on the IX?

Yes, the IX is much better, especially if you're talking about 03s and 04s.

You may catch some fire for not searching but, the IX has some more power due to turbo and/or MIVEC

I am looking to purchase a IX in the near future (next few months). I'd be absolutely happy with an VIII if I couldn't get a IX. But in my situation I'm pretty sure I'll get a IX. Test drove a VIII MR yesterday; blew my pantalones off

I might feel a little bad if I had a VIII instead of a XI, but when you hit 3000 RPMS your worries tend to go away... Yes the IX does perform, but you could easily swap parts in and out to an VIII

Oh yes, for the above mentioned VIII's 05 and up :P

When you start adding basic mods, the difference becomes even worse - the IX runs away.

Like newbies from Warrtalon!

But seriously, do a bit of searching and you'll see just how different (yet similar in ways) the VIII and IX are. The differences are ALL positive in favor of the IX. It cannot be argued.

I could never go back to the cheap 80's interior of my old 8. The 9 is much more solid and I don't get shocked everytime I get out of the car. **** used to happen to me when I would get out of any 8 but never in the 9s. Has anyone else noticed being shocked when you get out of an 8?

LOL Dude, I totally forgot that I always get shocked when I got out of my 8. I never got shocked from my IX that I completely forgot about that.

Why do you have to start a hundred threads about the same subject? This has been discussed a million times, and if you have something to add to that, put it in the old thread! It bumps it to the top and the discussion may continue!

Yes. But there's no reason to overlook a good deal on any 03-05 and that's especially true if you plan to upgrade the turbo.

Aside from performance though, the solid black interior is sweet.

Much less difference overall, but the 06 is still much more powerful than the 05, especially with bolt-ons.
