But seriously, could you give us a better idea of exactly what is happening?

Inquiring minds (who happen to also have IX's) want to know....

Have you ever put leather conditioner or armour all on the steering wheel since you owned it?

Avoid Armor-All on real leather. I've heard it wreaks havoc on it (and some people say not to put it on vinyl, either).

mine is doing the same thing around the bottom. i had the wheel too low for a while and would keep brushing off my leg as i got in.

oh well, i've been looking for an exscuse to buy a ix steering wheel with the black spokes anyways.

I just noticed that I also have a slight tear on mine at the bottom as well. I'd take a guess its because whenever I get out, I sometimes brush my legs on it, but its hardly noticeable.

Anyone know where I could purchase a steering wheel cover for it? All the ones that I find are way too big for the Momo wheel and it would just slide around.

2,300 miles on mine; treated with Lexol once or twice: Great shape; no peeling or problems.

My IX MR was doing the same thing shortly after I got it. There's a seam along the bottom of the wheel where the leather meets. I cut the peeling edge with some cuticle clippers, but I still feel it lifting occasionally. I may have to take it in. I've put up with it for over 6,000 miles.
