I'm really not sure. I've always used Redline for all my fluids and never had a problem. Recently switched to AMSOIL after some more research and speaking with the OilDoc.

GM is for general motors, you can get it at any dealer.
BG is jsut another brand. It is good but I used Redline in my DSM's and will continue to do te same in my evo.

I am very biased towards Redline products! I have been sponsored by them in the past and use their products in all my cars and my customers' cars.

Just be smart about it and ask for recommendations. Never assume you know more than the manufactures engineers!

GM and Barry Grant make very good lubricants for manual transaxles, but I will always recommend Redline!!

+1 to that.

I've used GM Synchromesh in my '02 WRX... a car known for having tranny problems, and it was almost like a night and day difference when I filled it up with the Synchromesh. I've gone over 80,000 miles with it and had no problems. It still shifts better than it did when the car was stock. Keep in mind, just because it is backed by GM doesn't mean that they make the stuff... smart chemist did.

Are your fluid changes covered by warranty? Not me. Also, we may want to use something that's better than what the dealership might put in. Dealership's don't typically add Red Line or Royal Purple producs... much less know what those brands are. I prefer to do fluid changes myself.

Pennzoil synchromesh (or GM synchromesh, they are only different in price) is the best tranny fluid you can buy for the Evo, with the exception of BG synchroshift II, which lasts much longer.

EvoM Gurus told me to try PZ Synchromesh or BG 1 Syncroshift (non-synth).

I am currently using BG1. I'm switching to PZ next. No problems so far.
