I have a question? please help

I need to know if the 8 and 9 factory exhaust are the same or not. I have a down pipe and cat for a 9 and want to know if a 8 catback will fit the 9 down pipe and cat.

No, they are not the same, because the IX cat has an o2 bung, and the VIII cat-back has an o2 bung. As long as you have a plug for the bung, though, it should be fine.

Ok #1 Search.
Now are you talking about hooking the 9 DP+cat to a Evo 8 aftermarket catback? I'm assuming that is what you are reffering to. If you are yes it will fit however you need to weld or plug up the O2 sensor bung on the Evo 8 catback. Evo 9 have the O2 sensor on the Cat and does not have enought slack to reach the secondary outlet. I haven't seen an aftermarket evo cat for a 9 so check to make sure there is a bung there. If not then go to the dealer buy an O2 sensor for an 8 because they have a longer lead and reaplce that

would an after market exhaust be the same for both cars(VIII & IX)? would it fit both perfectly? or are they diffrent?

cat backs will fit but there are some with minor fitment issues, everything depends on the DP and CAT.

I already answered this. Fitment is not an issue - it's the same exhaust design. There are differences, though, due to the location of the o2 sensor.

Whistling, there are no exhausts made specifically for the IX, but most fit fine.
