does anyone know how much hp to expect with just an drop in k and n air filter. i know its not much , but im curious. just bought one online and ive heard it makes the turbo a bit louder.

One added benefit, service people stop trying to sell you an air filter for twice what it costs at autozone or whatever.

 

just shake some oil off it before usin git. i have been using it for about 2 years now, still running like a champ

 

Good filter use it in her RS. You wont notice any HP gains. But it will flow better than stock.

 

How does it flow better than stock and have no noticeable gains?

 

With the K&N drop in filter you can usually gain from 5 to 8 whp. Is a good mod.
If you run it with the intake plastic box cover off, I have seen as much as an additional 12 whp gain.
When you are ready, go with a good intake like the Injen or HKS. Those will make even more HP.

 

It feels like I gain at lease 2-3 WHP ...not much though.
Maybe an free-er flow exhaust, down pipe might help to gain more.

 

It might make a couple ponies but nothing youll feel. Unless you have a calibrated ***

 

3 to 5 whp seems like a safe bet, maybe a little more. The Works drop in filter is better in my opinion though (but more expensive too), about 8-10whp from what others have reported. I put on the Works and noticed the difference, a good filter. I also had higher traps of about 1mph with the Works on compared to stock.

 

Don't feel any different, but the spool is nice. Anywho, what do you guys use to clean out the filter with? I got mine on for almost two years now and it's starting to look iffy. Kinda wanna clean it a bit. Any suggestion.

 

Use the k&n filter cleaning kit. ASAP!!!!

 

Go to autozone and pick up the K&N filter cleaning kit. It's really easy, just don't over oil the filter.
