well the thing is, the only way is to get a drivers license down in the states (thats ur starting point) problem w/ that as a canadian citizen is that u need to get a SSN for the states to show ur a residence there or have a work visa, that is where the problem starts, after u jump that hoop and know ppl in the states ur laughing...

once u have the drivers license, u can jus buy the evo and register and insure it to whereever(family friends, friends, person u bribe lol) then u jus take it over the border, ur only other problem will be proving to the border that ur primary residence is the US. That should be easy once u show em ur drivers license b/c
a) getting ur license u need to be a residence of the US
b) the license is a valid government issued ID

once u cross the border... BOO YA!

problem im currently having is getting my license... i have someone in the states i could register/insure to, BUT as a canadian i have to show the DMV that i am a resident or have some VISA b/c due to sept 11, visitors cannot jus get a license... i dont even know what visa to get b/c to get a job u need to be sponsored!

This has come up again and again, hell I think I saw it every week over at the canada lancer site. Simple answer, you can't do it. The car is illegal as far as the government is concerned.

This is exactly why america sucks sometimes. Because of ignorant *******S like that. OO yer foreign, I'm better than you. That comment usually comes from a drunk trailer trash driving a beat up F-body. Everyone in America has those so called "immigrants" as ancestors so think about that for a sec.

Back on the subject. I heard that the EVOs can't go into Canada because in a frontal collison the repair is too expensive? I don't live in Canada but I am still interested to see how one would bring one over there.

I like how he misspells therefore (one word, not two), canuck (not canook) and talks about canadians being "frenchies" even though a lot us don't have a drop of french in our family. Anyways, the reason why evos are not allowed is because they don't pass our minimum safety rating. To be legal in Canada, you have to be able to crash at 5 mph (I think that's what it is) without any damage whatsoever. The evo can't do this thus it is illegal.

Aren't older Evos legal to be imported into canada? I thought I saw a post by someone in Calgary or somewhere who had Nissan Sunny GTRs, Skylines, Evo I-V's and other badazz JDM imports. I mean I love my Evo 8 but I would seriously trade it straight up for a white Evo V.

Yes that is exactly what I heard.

Does this forum automatically filter out cuss words? If not sorry about my previous post but ignorant people just tick me off.

They have to be 15 years old before they are exempt from the rules. You could get an evo I now but that's about it.

im probably wrong, but i was reading something on this site saying that 2003+ evos are illegal. So that makes the VII's and under legal...supposedly. Thats just what i read so not positive. And the reason the VIIIS are illegal is due to the 2 out of 5 star crash rating, which canada needs 3?? again all what i heard nothing i came up with...so i could be WAY off

edit, the person i read this from could be way off...not me haha

Nope, all evos (save for the ones 15 years old) are illegal. You can use em for racing (one of the pro canadian rally drivers uses an evo 5 if I remember right) but they can't be driven on the roads. It has nothing to do with the safety rating but the fact it takes damage in a low speed accident. This is because of how the FMIC is mounted. Hell cavaliers and neons are legal here and they have horrible safety ratings.
