Help!!!! funny noise while crusing.

Please help me guys, when i'm driving and I take my foot off the gas completely I hear a rattling/grinding noise from the engin compartment. I notice that the noise comes when my boost/VAC is at 25 (vac).....is it supposed to get that low?

when i'm accelerating or just keeping the same speed the noise dissapears.

this also seemed to coincide with either the changing of the fuel pump and/or hitting a pot hole reeeeeally hard.

any help is appreciated.

Thanks

i have a similar noise. cruising in any gear if i let off the gas a little i get some kind of rattle. at first i thought it was the mivec because i never heard anything like that befor nor have i driving a vvt car befor.
i now belive it has to do with the same noise that i head at idle with the clutch out. im done with trying to figure it out i just pass it off as normal engine sound now.

Throw out bearing. Most evos have this noise, more noticable when cruising off-pedal. Mine does it.

Clutch chatter, search for a description of what people are hearing... Sounds like a coffe grinder. Do you have an aftermarket clutch or flywheel?

if you have an aftermarket exhaust it could be the DP rattling against a lower tie bar. Mine didn't clear, and I could hear it better sometimes when I decelerated. Might not be it, but its worth the two seconds to look under your car and see if your DP is clearing the front lower tie bar.

if it isn't clearing, take two 1/2 washers and place them between the bar and bolt it back up and it should clear.
