How to test a starter?

I have been having problems getting my car to start, im going to go take of the starter but how do i do a test on it once it is out of the car?

There is a "fuseable" link next to the starter, I hard wired mine onto the starter, as it gave me trouble starting it also.

First of all, have you tried just push-starting the car? If the car won't even start when you push start it, then it's probably not the starting system. If you CAN push start the car, the problem is in the starting system.

bring it to an auto parts store; most can test it for you. If you have a local starter/alternator rebuilder, bring it there- check in the yellow pages

what i have seen the mechanics at my work do is pull it out and connect 12v to it and see if it spins
