a few questions before buying.

i used to own a 2004 evo RS, and im looking to get a evo 9, i just had a few questions.

i am aware that there is a 5k rev limited now thus eliminating launchs, are there ways around this?

when is mitsubishi planning on stopping production of the evo9's of 2006? will there be any 2007s?

is there anyway to avoide breaking the transfer case if you plan on drag racing the car becuase i heard they are known to go very quickly.

is 400 whp possible with simply the appropriate fuel and tuning as well as cam gears exhaust intake etc.?

i know these are vague questions so you can flame me im ready for it, but hopefully a few nice people will respond with answers :] thanks guys

Hmm I can answer the first question you can definitely disconnect the rev limiter cuz I had it done by my friend... now I can rev it at whatever rpm I want to launch at

1) It doesn't prevent you from launching - it just prevents you from launching higher than 5k. Some consider it a launch aid, because it works like a 2-step. You can easily disconnect the switch in a few seconds, or you can get a tune that removes it or raises it to a more amenable rpm. This is very easy to find by searching - both the disconnecting and raising by flash.

2) I don't know exactly, but there won't be 2007s, however, there will be some 9.5 Special Editions in the Fall. This is very easy to find by searching specifically in the Future Model forum.

3) It is not common to break the transfer case in IXs, so I'm not sure where you heard that. You will break it if you dump your clutch from 7k RPM, but that's not the proper way to drag race anyway, so you'll only be breaking transfer case if you're a dumbarse. This is easy to find by searching.

4) No, not quite that easily, but the IXs are very easy to get power out of with very little money spent. 400whp is just kinda high and will take a bit more money, but 350whp can be done overnight with minimal mods. A good place to start is with the Warrtalon Package. Yes, again, this information is ABUNDANTLY available in many, many threads, most of which are very recent.

are the special editions the ones with the triptronic? a mitsu salesman was telling me about some triptronics with paddle shifters coming out soon i thought the idea was kinda dumb. the reason why im trying to find out when they are going to stop making them this year is becuase im saving up as much as possible to put money down and i want to be able to still get one, not a used one. anyway thanks again for the info.
