Even though this doesn't sound right, but if I were you, I'd sell the gift and use the money towards something else.

Stock upper piping works fine for me, but I am sporting a Fighters Garage lower intercooler pipe. Fit is alright and spool up is a lot better. I went with it since I couldn't justify the price of one of its competitors for almost twice the price and they all essentially provide the same results.

The evo ix bov is good. You dont need the aftermarket bov. The reason why people with 8s get bovs is because the stock bov is plastic the new 9 is metal. The stock bov also sounds nice and is much louder if you put an intake on.

For shizzle: I recently bought an HKS BOV as well for my IX, I didn't think it was worth having it. It ran fine, the main problem was the car would 'jerk' when shifting at high RPMs.
As for the IC piping, I STRONGLY recommend the Buschur (BR) upper IC pipes and intake. Only problem is that you'll need the mini-battery kit to clear the pipes.

BR IC pipes are no-BS, no silly bends, straight to the point. Install was rather simple, and if used in conjunction with some sort of lower IC pipe, turbo-spool is definitley increased, and the throttle more responsive.

Wait for BR to finish proto-testing and marketing there new lower IC pipe for the IXs. IF you buy one designed for an VIII, it'll be a crappy, loose fit because the turbo-outlet pipe on the IXs is different.

Try 'Searching' and you'll find several related/useful threads on the subject:

You're right. I should know better than to buy from street vendors.

yea, i would get rid of that blowoff valve, sell it to an srt-4 owner or something. i've heard nothing but problems when running that bov. i mean its alright for the older 4g motors but not for the ones that are in the evos.

i have the buschur upper inter pipe = AWSOME FIT if u have small batt i had one already, and have the fighters garage licp not a good fit but i had a longer pice of hose connector and worked beautifully. i would stay with the stock 9 bov or if u must have a bov go with forge rs i have one on mine 9 and its great ! my car pulls alot harder now and notice quicker spoolup and rpms stay in the higher range now when i shift.

but if you get an intake you wont benefit from it if your not tuned.ive read on this forum of some IX's losing power because of it(intake).in alll honesty i would not sacrifice power for a sound.
