Question o a few eBay items.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with 3 items sold on eBay.
1. is an intercooler & pipe combo kit. I'm interested in if for 2 reasons, it ahas the lower pipe & is 1.5" wider & 1" thicker than the stock. Are these any good for the low cost? I figure I would benifit from greater cooling here in S.FL.
2nd & 3rd.Are the header & o2 housings sold on eBay. I've heard venders say they crack and are junk. Venders also say that Megan headers are much better, but I would be willing to wager that they're made in China, just like the eBay ones are. The venders obviously would like to sell me thier own brand and there's nothing wrong with that, I just want to know from people who've actually used these items firsthand.
if you've used these items would you post if you've had success with them, did you get a noticable gain and would you use them again?

What brand are you talking about? ebay doesn't make the parts, so you gotta be careful what you buy on there. I've bought tons of stuff on ebay, just stay away from generic home made crap. Maybe if you post the links the the acutions you are looking at, we can comment on the parts that way. Just remember the old saying: you get what you pay for!

I would imagine he is talking about ssautochrome and the XSpower stuff.

I bought the o2 housing because it is what Buschur uses. I will just have it ported myself. I also purchased the intercooler kit but I am only using the LICP from that and selling the rest (or I may just sell the intercooler and keep the upper pipe as well). I haven't put any of this stuff on yet but I have heard that the LICP is comparable to the (I believe it is called) AMS brand. The main difference is that it is stainless steel instead of aluminum. It even comes with T-clamps!

I would love to hear from people with the eBay intercooler to see how it works and how it fit.

The durability of the manifold is questionable.

I was searching just to see if I could find anything. I found a whole intercooler and pipes kit for like $300! I wonder what the quality would be like for that price. Also I keep seeing these upper intercooler pipes that have 2 pipes coming out the side rather than just 1, where the BOV connects, whats the deal, why do some have 2 for? Are they tring to sell something thats not even for our car? I could see that happen on ebay!

No need to pay 600 for an intercooler when "XSPOWER" sells one for 100.

I purchased it and it works great. Much much better then the stocky

i argee, alotta things sold on ebay are styled to be like a good branded item, which doesnt have the same quality built and what not. there was a big article on ebay items in a few issues ago modified mag. i would check it out if i were you. i've bought tons of things on ebay none were greddy,HKS,apexi etc "style" save yourself the headache and hassle just buy the well knownly used and tested parts. not ebay crap.

You can't just say because it is from eBay that it is crap. The proper thing to do is research the hell out of this stuff on here before buying anything. I bet that for every part you are interested in, 5 people have tried it and posted their opinions here.

If the o2 housing is so horrible then why does Buschur buy them, send them out to be ported and jet-coated, and then sell them for $200?

I wouldn't use the intercooler on my car (for personal reasons and not because it may or may not work) but I will definitely use the piping. Piping is piping and it is hard to get that wrong. I got the whole intercooler kit (intercooler, LICP, UICP, couplers, t-clamps) for $99 and $35 shipping. I will keep the LICP and UICP and sell the intercooler for $80-100. Not a bad deal.

Damn that is cheap as hell! I've had bad experiences with eBay goods when I had my Eclipse GSX so I wouldn't go that route again. You end up paying more a lot of the time because you have to go buy the expensive stuff you should've bought in the first place after the eBay stuff breaks.

I ordered a UK VIII badge and the one they sent me was the wrong size, wrong font, and was obviously cheaply made. They had a picture of the actual UK badge on the listing though and good feedback. You just never know

The Ebay Intercooler is a nice upgrade. It stands out more from the front and it cools good. I noticed no pressure drop or boost drop. The Ebay O2 Housing also works good and looks good. Hard to tell from my experience its benefit, as I added the Ebay O2 and Exhaust manifold together.

The Ebay Exhaust Manifold looked great new, right out of the box. Looked just like the Megan unit. Came with all the bolts and gaskets for a complete installation.
After 4 months of use, I noticed an unusual sound coming from the exhaust port of the Manifold. I had the heather wrap with hi temp. banding, so it was hard to see. After close inspection, the Ebay manifold had a 1 1/2 inch crack. Take a look at the picture.
I loged my boost, and it was not fully boosting until past 4K, so that also canfirmed the leak.

I do recommend the Ebay O2 Housing and the Ebay Intercooler(AMS Look alike). However, I will not recommend the Ebay Manifold.

I would buy the Megan, because if it cracks, you get a 1 year warranty.
Or I will recommend the Grouppe-S Maxford heather. This is the one I got after the Ebay one cracked. It has a 2 year warranty. Take a look at the picture of it in my car. Both of this units sell for around 200-230 dollars. Great buys.

just because buschur uses itm doesnt mean i will, as i said not trying to go off topic but whenever anything says "style" it means its a copy of the original version. i have met tons of people mostly the srt-4 crowd because the ones i know are cheap ****s. they bought greddy type S 'style" bov and they told me theirs cars are leaking boost like **** and it sounds like ****. thats one of my reaosons why i dont trust the ebay products some vendors are selling. anything that goes into my engine bay is something i know im not gonna have a headache with.

Thanks for the thoughfull replies.
here's the link to what I was looking @:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...mZ150002507297

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EVO-V...mZ150002536924

I was making a comparison of the Megan headers to the headers on SSautochrome. Unless I'm mistaken, Megan is Chinese and so are the other ones. My previous experience in dealing with weapons from foreign countries has led me to conclude that the chinese have some of the worst machining I've seen, yet their weapons last very long (had a stamped underfolder AK-47 w/36000 rounds thru it before failure!) and are very inexpencive.
My point was that there are some very good items to be had at great prices. I've already read David buschers test info and figured that the headers, if welded properly, w/ a 3/8" or thicker flange should be just as good as a Megan header, but 1/2 the cost. I've also read comparisons on this site with various intercoolers being used, including some 650-800 ones with recognizied brand names that had issues while the n
"no-name" ones did very well.
Yes you get what you pay for most of the time, but there are some bargains to be had. Just because it's expensive doesn't make it good. Look at the Works o2 housing for $500?! is that worth the cost compared to an Ebay o2 housing, no way! At least not as far as my checkbook is concerned!

"Tonz of fun",
How much bigger is the IC you bought compared to the stock one? Did you gain any HP or throttle responce?

This is a pic of the Maxford from Grouppe-S and the stcock Mani.

One thing I want to add is that the stock Mani has big ports on the intake side, but the outlet to the turbo is small. The Maxford Mani on the other hand, has smaller intake ports, and much biger outlet port to the turbo. I ended up porting the Mani a little bit. Take a look at the pics.

The last pic, you can see the almost finished port job I did. Look at the last port, it looks smaller bacause I had not ported that one yet. So if you get this Mani, port it a little on the intake ports. The car spools nice once again, .
