HKS filter swap to Apex'i

I recently decided to send my ECU for a flash to Dyno Flash, and since my car is out of order, I also used this time to clean my air filter for my HKS RS intake. Well, needless to say, I wasn't too impressed with the filtration capabilities of the HKS filter.

So, I want to put the Apex'i filter on the HKS piping. Do I just need to order the Apex'i kit that comes with the MAF adapter for the filter and run it like normal? Does it work fine with the HKS pipe? The kit is intended for the stock induction box, but I would assume there wouldn't be any problems with running it on the HKS pipe.

Thanks for any advice.

<Edit> I forgot to add, for future reference, that the filter housing cracked. There is basically nothing protecting my MAF from the plastic if it comes off. I love the look and sound, but I would make sure you check the filter housing if you have this intake.

Sorry not the exact answer you're looking for, but HKS made a revised filtration system for that intake. It's supposebly has two layers of filter and better airflow too or w/e. You can upgrade your existing one.

Yeah the Apexi filter (the one made for the Evo) should come with an adapter plate that fits on the MAS. The HKS filter is terrible. DO NOT USE IT. I switched from stock to HKS and it destroyed the honeycomb in my MAS. The plastic rib cage looking thing that the HKS filter resides in warps and deforms (suprising for a $300.00 + intake kit). You can get the Apexi filter and adapter plate for about $119.00 (shipped) at:

I'm never buying another HKS product ever again.

Here is a pic that proves you shouldn ever consider using this intake EVER:
