How to screw up an o2 sensor...

So I have had my testpipe on for a couple months now. I have finally decided to get a mechanical o2 eliminator fix. I was wondering how can someone screw up an o2 sensor? Could I have ruined mine?

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Dropping the O2 sensor - not a good idea.
Touching it a lot with your hands (grease/oil/dirt) - not a good idea.
Cooking it with a torch - not a good idea.
Getting the wires really twisted together - not a good idea.

Using the correct socket to get it out and put it in - good idea.
(autozone has them for free to use)

Is it physically ruined or just throwing a CEL now. If everything was fine post install and it just started happening it could be that the O2 sensor is being overwhelmed by all the extra exhaust gases. If thats the case, installing a spark plug fouler on the O2 bung and then installing the 02 sensor should take care of the problem. It worked for many members including myself .
