My stock exhaust warning

So I was late at work today configuring a new firewall for our office, Got into my EVO and started to drive back home (I work 2.5 miles away from home). I stop at the second traffic light which has constructions, they are simply making the road wider and the right lane now can go straight but there are no markings on the ground. The road is simply ready but it needs the arrows. Anyways, there was a Fairfax county cop next to me. So it turns green and of course I am going to go straight because thats how the new road is setup. Well he slows down and pulls me over (I knew it). He comes to me and says

Do you know why I pulled you over?
I say No idea
He says you went straight on a right turn lane.
I said this is a construction area and as you know they are making the road wider we have 2 lanes to go straight instead of one. And there are no marking on the ground.

At this point he did not know what to say and next thing he said “well your exhaust is loud”

I say officer its stock and in fact my car is stock from head to toes.

He says Sir I don’t care how the dealer sold it to you, I don’t care what you drive if I can hear the exhaust it means it’s loud.

I say officer I am not arguing with you but if this car was approved to be sold here by the state then I really can’t do much.

He says sir the dealer will sell you anything

I say what would you like me to do.

He says take it back to the dealer and tell them to change it.

I say if that makes you happy I will do that first thing tomorrow morning. Are you satisfied?

He says sir I am not trying to waist your time but this exhaust is really loud.

I say okay I will do something about it (I am thinking what a dumb **** you are)

Long story short he gives me a warning.

I am at home now and I am thinking that this area is really going to hell. I mean couldn’t Fairfax county hire intelligent cops? You can’t even have an intelligent conversation with these idiots. I did not want to argue with him because he looked like a redneck and he was seriously stupid to waist his time and mine.

All this time I am thinking what the **** is going on and why the hell I am being patient with this ****er ***** sucker.

Well I figure I am American and we have been here since the early 50s but my car and my last name does not help either. I don’t want to be on the ground face down. I can’t afford to loose my clearance not because I get arrested but because I will truly kick the **** out of him before he thinks about putting me in his car.

I am a calm guy but when I get angry I might loose it so you guys can say that I handled it well.

But what a ****er

you should've *****ed at him and let him give you a ticket/ref ticket and then take it to court and get his *** fired, and then sue the police department for some stupid lawyer excuse like it was profiling or lack of knowledge and training and get even more money, then sell your car and get a even better car or mod your car or even buy a new house or find a hot girl and tell her the story and get laid or whatever. well that is what i would do because i would have too much time on my hands hahaha.

I would have told him that if he thinks its too loud, then write you a ticket. Then have your day in court, which you will obviously win. Only by doing this will you have a chance to straighten this guy up and realize he made a mistake, othewise he will go on harrasing people.

the exact same thing happened to me when I was heading home after watching TF&F 3. I had my A/C on so my exhaust had a deeper and louder sound, but not a lot, anyways it was the same bs and he gave me a warning and i was just wishing for him to give me a ticket so i could make him loook like an *** in court!!!

Thumbs up

Az3ar, you were pulled over cuz u weren't driving a V8 domestic. Fairfax county? u know that's cooter country & if it ain't V8, they don't want it in their state!!!!!!

also keep in mind that we will continue to get harassed since the cops have labelled the EVO as 1 of the "new speed demons" not to mention the exposure in the new FnF movie.

next time u get pulled 4 loud exhaust, tell him 2 pull out his spl meter & PROVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

agree with u man...some people may benefit from a coke and smile...eddie murphy style

i was kind of paranoid today when i pulled up next to a cop...the light turned green and i waited til he started rolling(cuz the a/c was on and the car is slightly loud)...except he looked over at me and waited until i went...he then got behind me...i was like wtf?... then he changes lanes and zoom zoom zooms off...jerk...

btw my car is stock with just 236 miles on it with goofy new metal smells under the hood...crispy!

Problem is, it don't matter if you are right or not. You can have the dealership salesman, the designer of the car, and God Almighty come to court and the judge can say " I trust my cousin cleatis (the cop) more then the experts, if he said it is to loud then it is too loud!" and you end up paying a fine anyway as well as taking the time to go to court. Look up the thread in here about the guy who was ticketed for his stock wing if you want a real "brain exploder" of a headach.

Wonder it'd help if we kept a brochure of the Evo in the car at all time, in case we get pulled over we can use the pictures as proof to those lesser intelligent cops out there?

He prolly got behind to look at your tag and run your profile in his computer, I got pulled over once like that and the cop told me that my car and my tag are both under my name but they "are not associated to each other". I went down to the DMV the next day, the lady there checked my tag and couldn't find anything wrong with it, and then she went up to her supervisor, she checked my file and again the same thing, they have no idea what the cop was talking about. I was pulled over around 9:30 at night, the cop had a nice attitude and was all smiles, but I highly suspect that's because the parents were in the car with me at the time, else it might've been an entirely different story.
