Boost question? Could be a problem.
Boost question? Could be a problem.
Anyone ever start your car in the cold or heat and notice that the boost only maxes at like .7 bars? It's done that a couple times for me, but after a little while it will go back to the normal 1.5-1.7 bars. Is this a problem? Or does the car just need to warm up a bit?
thanks!
thanks!
Wow, you are trying to boost when the engine is cold? Do not do it ever again - do not hit boost until the engine is at full operating temperatures. That is a sure way to blow your engine. It's a good thing the ECU is programmed to suppress the boost so as to protect the engine, else you'd be at the dealership now making a warranty claim.

Nah, it's only happened like two times to me. I've never beat my engine without giving it a couple minutes of slow driving to warm up. I was just curious why it had done that in the past. Thanks for the information guys!
That's a bit too long at idle, hondafan. YOu should warm the car up by driving, no by idling. There's a technical write-up on why that is bad for your engine, but I have trouble finding it. Let the car idle a little until the needle starts to move, but don't wait idle for several minutes. Drive lightly until it warms up fully, then boost.
