New Exhaust - Loud!
New Exhaust - Loud!
Just curious, I just had a straight pipe installed with the cat delete. It made a huge difference in the tune and power but it's freaking loud! I've got 272's installed and I love the idle but again, loud. Would it make a huge difference to install the cat converter back in? And, would I need to get it tuned again for this change?
I feel self consious driving around with the car so loud, it's starting to drive me nuts! Do a lot of you guys like the louder exhausts? Just curious.
Thanks for your feedback!

cat delete will for sure make the car loud.
Does the exhaust have any resonators?
If it doesnt, that's another reason why it's louder.
A cat will lessen the exhaust note but will lose few hp compared to a cat-delete.
I honestly dont think its worth the extra loudness and smell of unburnt fuel to run a car without a cat for 5hp.
Just my opinion though.

www.mufflex-perfornace.com call and ask for Denny. Tell him your car and situation and he'll reccommend a muffler.
My car used to be the loudest car in my town....it was rediculous.........with three resonators in the exhaust......
i got a huge magnaflow straight through muffler from him and the sound is now borderline stock. and i didn't lose any performance.....

What's up Casey! Nice to see you on! Yeh, it sounded nice at the track but it's pretty loud on the main road...
I'm going to throw the high flow cat back on it and see what happens. I can live with a loss of 5 or so hp....
That shouldn't hurt the times I was running considering it was about 90 degrees with about 100% humidity...

The HFC cat makes a difference... I have the Megan TBE and had the Test pipe in. Along w/ the odor, it droned pretty bad on the freeway. I installed a Helix HFC, and it helps a little. The drone is done, but it's still pretty loud. I might get a different cat back like the Apexi...
Well, this exhaust was pretty expensive so if I can figure out a way to make it a little quieter without having to purchase a new one, that's what I need to do. Along with this mod, I just upgraded to the BR 20g9-5 so I'm all spent out right now. I'll start with the HFC and see if that helps a little, if not, I call the shop and ask their advise.
