There really is no reason they would not work with the stock ECU. And tune I assume you mean with a tune.
My former Evo will be tuned using ECUFlash soon by someone who is capable (the owner) and I will get to see what his impressions are. There are a lot of people still making really good power on the stock ECU and really idle is a matter of proper tuning. The knowledge is on this site and I think with ECUFlash there will be a lot more public information provided by the guru type members as things progress.
With ECUFlash out and all the good information coming out I almost wish I still had my car.

im curious about revolvers and the stock ecu also, i know a while back there was a thread by precision dyno (i know they dont have the best rep here) that said revolvers and ecutek worked out fine, but most shops are saying that they cant work with the stock ecu. its a tough decision, the only way it can be answered is if someonce decides to become the guinnea pig. the other options are a blow through maf or maft pro w/speed density. i guess not everyone wants to go with aem, especially with the difference in cost.

There's nothing wrong with driving an Evo with revolver cams everyday... although I only pull about -4 vac at idle, it's still plenty driveable.

i don't think people will ever learn... putting a big thumpy cam on a tiny turbo is stupid.

why? ask yourself why the idle sucks. it's due to increased duration and with increased duration with pretty much the same centerlines and certainly the same lobe seperation comes increased overlap. increased overlap coupled with increased exhaust pressure because flow is bottlenecked due to increased engine flow capacity is an equation for reversion. reversion is power robbing.

you open up the engine just to stop it with the turbine, then all that exhaust goes right back up your engine. have fun.

now everyone will say buschur did it with his 20g. well that's fine and dandy... but he also has a lot of other work done to the car and he also has ALL the resources to make it run right regardless. you think you can pull it off? just cuz he can? it's gonna be a fat waste of money and when you realize that hopefully you get a bigger turbo and don't give up the cams and all that other bull**** that went along in with them.

I want to get more hp and more trq than my hks 272s are giving me. So i ask you this... how do jun 272 cams compare to revolver 262/264 cams? =]
im not thaty familiar with revolver cams, but i am now using JUN 272 cams with the JUN valve springs, JUN stroker kit, JUN cam sprockets, and JUN retainers which translated to 700+whp. My old set-up using the same turbokit and intercooler kit was HKS 272cams, HKS gasket, JE Forged pistons and it made 619whp. Imagine the jump.

that's not what i'm sayin' at all... i like 'em just fine on ams's stroked staged 5 cylinder head big turbo car that is designed to make hp up to 9k+. that's where they belong.

any other application and you're giving something up. something that a few cam gear changes would likely change but on the same note, a couple of cam gear changes on another cam could do just as well for you.

this is the type of question that's good.... and it'll lead you down a path of more questions and eventually lead you away from such cams on such a setup.

lol i don't wanna ask more questions, i want an answer =P i know its not going to be anywhere near 60whp over hks 280s like on the 42r... but it could be 20whp over hks 272s

or it could be horsepower loss........... is this what no one is understanding? could be horsepower loss.... and you know what... ams and maybe even buschur would prolly tell you themselves... for what you're runnin'... you should prolly stick with hks 272 or even 264.

for sure ams has said you don't run juns on stock ecu... but no one listens. they just wanna blind themselves into a decision and when things don't work out like they fantasized... the tuner sucks...

I love the Revolvers on my stock block/head speed density BR20G-9 setup. The torque is unreal and the car just keeps pulling up top. No valve train noise, no cam gears, no problems other than traction and the damn 6spd

thats what i like to hear! btw i'm running speed density, so i can run jun or revolver. I guess i'm just gonna get some jun 272s and dyno vs my hks 272s on my 20g. see the difference, then if i can get my hands on some revolver cams, i'll compare vs the jun and hks #s
