At least insurance will cover it. I had a pick-up drop an alternator out of the back that the only damage was punching a hole in my oil pan. The insurance company said that it was a maintenance item. Fortunatly I shut the engine off quickly (70 mph in the fast lane on the 91 fwy in evening traffic) and only needed to replace the crank bearings.
