Thoughts on an evo

I am looking at getting an evo and i was just wondering if i would be able to get a fairly new one(not brand new) for around 25k? And this will be my everyday driver and I was just wondering do i have to put 94 in this at all times?

25 is def reasonable. Lots of ppl on here selling for around that. And yes you need to put at least a 93 oct if available. We don't have that in Vegas so we're forced to use 91

I guess we would have to know what 'fairly new' means.....VIII or IX? What kind of miles are you looking to have on the car? And yes, 93 octane is needed.

If you're concerned about gas mileage and all weather driving, don't get this car. First off, gas mileage is bad, I get 200 miles to a tank driving 'middle of the road'. As for bad weather driving, I got a set of aftermarket rims and snow tires for the snow (northeast US), but I don't even take her out in the rain, not to mention never in the snow. I can't say how it handles, but I paid major $$$ for this car and I only drive it in good weather. (the snow tires have not been used yet!!!!).

Here's the deal...

Yes you can get a used Evo 8 GSR with ~30k miles for around $25,000. Evo's are great in the snow only after you get new tires meant for snow conditions. MPG will vary a lot depending on your driving style, but you can expect at least 19mpg city driving if you're nice on the throttle.

Hope that helps..

i just payed 21,000 for my 03 evo it only had 12,900 on the clock when i got it.
there is only one thing wrong with it, is missing a very small peace of paint on the very bottom of the back bumper, getting touch up paint this week
all you half to do is look. it took me almost 3 months to find this one and i had to drive 500 miles to get it. but it was worth the wait

Yes this is true. I also want to get a stock one and i have been looking around and cant find too many that are stock.. Does putting mods on these increase or decrease the value.. And what kind of EVO should i be looking at for all year driving? And what are the differences in the years and the models?

I'd get a 05 or newer for snow driving because it has ACD witch makes it so you can make it more front wheel drive for the snow it makes it so you can hardly slide if you try. I hardly use it cause i like doing all wheel drive drifts in the snow though the RS is cheaper but dosent have ABS or alot of other perks like power windows A/C. Having mods would slightly increase the value but if i bought a used one i'd make sure it was kept stock and not just put back to stock either. cause that usually means they did'nt race much. you could find a stock 05 with pretty low miles for around 25k if your pacient.
