I didn't realize how easy it is to change the oil on the EVO. I just use the mobil1 synthetic in the 5qt jug for $20.00 and the crush ring and filter from the dealership.
I will just say keep your receipts and record your mileage on oil changes in the event something happens.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Who reads the owners manual BTW, most automakers say something a lot eariler - usually you will see different levels for what you do. Racing, towing, city...

As for us:
5000 miles - normal driving
3000 miles - lots of racing

1500 miles - ya aafter break-in -- you are just wasting good oil if you change it that early.

Depends on dealer - mine is cool with everything (I get free oil changes, tire rotation, fluid flushes...) They get a kick out of my car everytime I come in - but they like performance stuff. I go to the Dodge dealership part that is part of my Mitsu dealer (owner does both but only services out of the Dodge side - yes they are Mitsu techs - no they dont touch anything but the stuff I mention earlier )

Its easy to do oil at home. Search - err shouldnt have to say that...

What does Mitsubishi consider to be severe service - this is right from the service manual...

3. Extensive idling or low speed operation
4. Repeated short trips at freezing temperatures.
7. More than 50% operation in heavy city traffic at temperatures above 90 degrees.

So, severe service isn't going to the track. Severe service is how most of us drive.
