Ya just wait till the STI comes out and then everyone can argue after someone has ran it. But on another note.... What would happen if mitsu threw a stroked 2.5L in the evo to make it fair???? I think we all know what would happen.

I think they are both great, I have yet to ride in an sti, but I am sure it will be great. I just look foward to the rivalry. I was very close to buying the sti, but in the end I liked the evo more. I IMO think it will be a close rivalry.

Does Porsche need to put a V12 in their 911 GT3 to compete with a Diablo or Farrari? It's half of a litre, get over it.

But obviously Subaru did need that half liter.

Try passing CA emission with a 2.0 litre with 300hp/300lb of tq

If there's anyone that has a chance in doing it, I'd bet on Mitsu. Because as Mr. Hansen said, "Subaru and STi are tiny compared to MMC" and they "don't have the R&D staff numbers and budget that MMC has."

Will they do it? I doubt it. I bet they'll slap in a turboed 2.4L engine into a Ralliart edition Evo, thus having similar displacement as it's little brother - the Ralliart Lancer.

I wonder if they will start making the Evo here and slap a Srt-4 engine in it. I do not think they will. I probably would not buy it if that happened.

No porsche doesn't need extra displacement in their GT3.... Possibly because it's turbocharged! Plus .5L is a big difference in terms of a 4 cylinder compared to .5L in a V12. And aren't the STI and Evo rally cars?? isn't WRC limited to 2.0L? kinda defeats the purpose with the 2.5 huh?

That doesn't apply in this case. Here's a clue - the WRX STi RA and the Evo RS are the only models really produced for rallying. The standard STi and the Evo GSR were purely for the public. An engine difference doesn't change that fact one bit. As far as the "rally heritage" thing goes, the vast majority of that isn't in the engine, it's in the AWD drivetrain and chassis. And every Impreza gets to share in that, unlike Lancers. Also, Subaru is in the business of SELLING CARS, they make money from their customers, not from WRC. (at least Subaru still competes in the WRC)

I guess your right this basically is mitsu and subaru's attempt to sell more cars.. I'm sure Mitsu will counter the STI's new engine with something next year and so forth. I just can't wait to see one run somewhere to see how it performs compared to the evo.

GT3 is normally aspirated 3.6 liter flat six, get it straight.

I went to the NY autoshow yesterday. I saw the EVO and the STI.

My "thinking" about getting a WRX is slim to none after I saw the EVO in person. It definitely changes you when you are staring at that beast. My girl was like "dam, get it so you can spank those bastards on the highway". I was against an S4, who spanked me after 5 min lead.... Dude seriously couldn't drive....

Anyway, if someone bought me the STI I wouldn't drive it. It is a great car with great engineering but uglyier than a red headed step child with chicken pox and herpes....

I still don't understand the attitudes about who's stick is bigger.. I got one of those last night, some guy offered $1000 to race me, have no idea what kind of car, I certainly hope it wasn't his mommy's pathfinder. I basically laughed at him and said "Don't waste my F**k'in time" And it had nothing to do with not wanting to race.. but the bad attitude he had about ranting to run.. I think someone like that, is the same kind of jerkoff who goes onto the forums and just bashes every car out there that isn't his own... Truthfully, most of us know the EVO isn't the fastest car out there.. However its one of the most impressive cars I've seen in a while. Just get over it I suppose.. No matter how big your ***** is.. THere's always someone out there with one a little bigger.. Thats life.. most of them are just jerking off with 'em anyway.. ok.. enough rant..

Beldrudder...

there are just as many stupid rants and bone-headed ***** on "this" board as there are on "that" board ...

This is exactly why i read more than post. I haven't taken the time to count em but you are on point here.

I'm also sick of all of the bashing but it's pointless to try to correct some of those smooth brains. Not everyone out there into cars are true enthusiasts that can appreciate every car and not hate.
