i agree.. i mean i'm 16 and would love an evo, but for my sake i'd wait til i was about 20-24ish to even think about that purchase. the evo is a beast for adulthood, not the im-still-learning-to-drive years of my life. (no offense or anything, that's just how i feel)

Eh 17 yrs old is not to young at all.. it's just you have to be smart, and think wisely... i'd wish i coulda got a evo at 17..and thas y i dont belvie it's to young.. you jsut have to be reasonable and learn the car before you try to take advantage of it..

there was a thread about insurance prices before..but that was about people in the 20's and 30s. if i remember right, i was hearing arouind $3000 a year even for a person with a relatively clean history.

I am fine with driving experience
I have been to several driving schools including The Bmw driving school (my mom got a M5) and The Porsche Driving Experience
I wont wrap my Evo around a tree
Im not that stupid!

(Enter inexperience behind the wheel and friends in back seat yelling on way to party)

Whilest I gaze into my crystal ball I see tickets, numerous and large for sophomore/junior aged kids with 276 hp cars. J/k goodluck wish i could have one bought for me

depends a lot on where you live... from your current car and age, aim going to take a leap and say its a fairly rich area. those tend to have higher #'s.. your record is also a big factor. if it´ll help, i live in an area thats in the mid to high range for insurance, I'm 23, have 2 tickets, and the lowest insurance i was quoted, progressive, is running me 1400 every 6 months.

when i dropped my old insurance company b/c they wanted more than 1800/ 6 mo, the apologized and said that young drivers and fast cars were danger flags for them. 23 is young. 17 is VERY young. they probably wont like that much.. I'd estimate that you( or parents) would be paying at least as much for insurance as for car payments, probably more..

I'm going to have to side with the majority here and suggest you wait it out a bit (without getting into the whole inexperience issue, its just too damn expensive).. besides you can pick up more women in a mercedes than an evo... and at 17, thats all i cared about..

Basically, your insurance will be high no matter what. Less than 25 years old, male, single? You're screwed. Trust me, I know I don't have anything on my records either, and I pay the cheapest rate I can find in Jersey at 1600 a year.

edit: I'm 24.

Personally ... I'd tell myself holy sh*t ... I'm 17 and driving a 2002 Benz Ml 500, I'm going to take advantage of this while I can and drive this pimp ride around for a while (while being more than a year). But then again that's just me, I'd love an evo as well... but even if I could afford one (which hahahah noooo way I could) I wouldn't be able to handle one yet either, I would however love to have a car like the benz
