I drive with it on but I click it off if I want to take off fast or uphill. My car almost dies when attempting to start out sometimes with the A/C on.

I try not too, seems to really rob the power. I know people say it only saps one or two HP, but it sure feels like more.

I checked it out and you're right....even if it's not needed you should run it to keep the seals in good shape. Thanks for the info, I'll run it tomorrow and see how things work out.

They say that driving fast with windows open creates lot a lot of air drag (above 45mph), and causes you to use more gas than if you were to have the AC on....but don't know how much proof there is to this. Can anyone confirm?

I'm guessing it's more like 20hp. 1-2hp is NOT going to be noticeable.

it's true, you can try experimenting yourself.

Mythbusters busted that myth. It's definitely more fuel efficient when not running A/C even with windows down.
