TRUE STORY...In College, I got stopped for going 120 in a 35mph Zone, passing on a Double Yellow, and not wearing a seatbelt. Got tickets for all those plus a reckless driving ticket Got arrested on the spot. Had to pay 2500$ bail... Got me a good lawyer... The seatbelt violation got dropped. The passing on a double yellow got reduced to an illegal parking. The speeding was reduced to 60 in a 35mph, and the Reckless driving got reduced to disordelry conduct. Got to love American Judicial System and what a good lawyer can do.

Met a guy last year that got pulled over in Cali for doing over 140 on the way home from the dealership with the kids in the back of his brand new 911 turbo x50. He told the cop that it was brand new and he didn't realize he had kicked it up THAT fast. Cop said he couldn't blame him and gave him a verbal warning only.

I can't verifiy this but the guy seemed pretty straight up. He's a dentist that I met at the Porsche Driving Experience.

I don't think so. Both are great cars with their own character. I'd be happy with either. I own the EVO and love it, but would also be happy with the STi.

All you goons doing 140 on the streets are going to put up insurance for the rest of us. STOP IT. We don't have the roads in the US for these speeds. Keep it on the track. Have you seen the mess you can make at 140mph???

I grew up in Italy, and 140 is nothing there. I used to get passed by the cops, while they wave to me. Of course, that was an Audi, (the italian equivelent of a ford taurus), but i would in no way feel safe doing that in the US. No offense to any of you, but the majority of the people in the US drive like crap.

I agree with you 100%!!!! The combination of horrible roads, crappy US drivers, esp with the soccer moms driving excursions and puttin makeup on and other multitasking, and inadequate training prevents us from having our own North American Autobahn

Am I the only one that has a huge problem with this? And people wonder why people hate lawyers.

sounds to me like the judge is the one with the problem, lawyer just playing the system. Of course the judge used to be a lawyer.

I got pulled over doing 90 on the freeway, I only had a NZ drivers license, and the car registration and insurance papers were not in the car and got off scott free..

I think the cop was too lazy to do the paper work for someone who was fresh off the boat....

Hmmm. I *think* I've gone over 100 mph. I'm not really sure, though, because the speedometer in the Mercury Sable (a rental car) only went up to 85 mph.

But man, I pegged that needle all the way to the right. That must count for something.
