CEL code P203 injector circit malfunction
CEL code P203 injector circit malfunction
Hey everyone, I hope this is in the right section, just had a cel, and it came up P203,(injector circit malfunction) bla bla bla, whatever that is...so it bogs down when I push in the clutch, and kills if theres any other strain on the system, turning, ac, whatever. Its all stock, but the old owner told me they had a apexi a/f controller in the car, but it was stolen. I just had it in for the 60k service, new belts, all fluids changed. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this???
are you sure the code is p203 or p0203? this is what i found. looks to be the # 3 injector failed or bad wiring. but if you havent had any problems till now i would first check the harness.
there is a code p0201 which is for the injectors as well as p0202, p0203, p0204 depending on which injector fails. Anyway here is what the service manual says.
CIRCUIT OPERATION
• The power for the injector is supplied by the No. 4 terminal of the MFI relay via an injector resistor.
• The ECM controls the injector by turning the power transistor in the ECM "ON" and "OFF".
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
• The amount of fuel injected by the injector is controlled by the amount of continuity time the coil is grounded by the ECM.
• A surge voltage is generated when the injectors are driven and the current flowing to the injector coil is shut off.
• The ECM checks this surge voltage.
DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
Engine speed is lower than 1,000 r/min.
Throttle position sensor output voltage is lower than 1.16 volts.
Judgement Criteria
• Injector coil surge voltage (battery positive voltage +2 volts) has not been detected for two seconds.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are: )
• Injector failed.
• Injector resistor failed.
• Open or shorted injector circuit, harness damage, or loose connector.
• ECM failed.
Hope this helps
