STOCK Evo 9 --> MR <-- Owners... Read!
Hey guys,
Reason I specified STOCK Evo9 MR owners is because this question is mainly for people with the factory boost gauge. I posted this over on the engine/turbo forum but I'm looking for a more general consensus here.
Basically I'm having some sort of boost problem, either im not boosting enough, I have a boost leak, or my gauge is faulty. If I floor it from 1,000 rpm (or any other rpm) the MAXIMUM boost I will see is around 1.2-1.3 BAR on the stock Evo gauge. It tapers to below 1.0 BAR, sometimes even lower.
I want to hear what kind of boost other Evo 9 MR owners are seeing on their stock gauges. I have owned a '05 Evo 8 MR and on the factory gauge I consistently hit 1.5 BAR (tapering to ~1.1-1.2)
The purpose of this post is to see what kind of boost other people are getting on the factory gauge. Obviously if a overwelming majority say they're getting the same readings from the stock gauge then I wont fret. But If other people are getting mostly different readings then I know something is up. Thanks guys, hopefully you can help me sooth the worries

sounds pretty normal too me, for being stock. The stock gauge is not super accurate either. And as far as your evo 8 hitting 1.5 bar stock and tapering to 1.1-1.2 that sounds kinda high for a stock evo 8.
Do MR owners even read their specs sheet before they buy the car? I mean even though you have the same engine and the same turbo as any other evo 9, you want to only compare MR s? That's retarded...
haha .. i have a gsr, and my defi's see the same drop.
My buddy's evo 9 RS with the factory gauges see the same drop too...
same engine load + same turbo= same amount of boost rise/fall
gearing affects it minutely, and i dont think it matters very much in your instance except for the extra money you paid...

I was also worried about that. I did some research and 1.3 bar is about 20 psi so thats normal. What you should probably be worried is how low it tappers, it shouldnt go down past 1 bar. It should taper at 16 psi which is around 1.1. I noticed that in the summer it tappered a little lower but thats normal with the hot weather.
Chances are your car is perfectly normal.
My car hits 1.3bar consitantly and tries very hard to hit 1.4bar on cool weather.
It did spike very close to 1.5bar when I first picked it up in early May when the weather was very cool.
In this very hot weather in the midwest, the car sometimes hits 1.2bars but majority of the times it hits 1.3bar and tapers down to about 1.1bar.
No need to be worried but it might be a good idea to check the hose clamps.
