I'm going to start singing again if someone doesn't start slamming rag on glass and flashy-thingy it!!

ps--my 0.02 cents (I love when people write that... "0.02 cents"...that's a hell of a small sum!):

a) *cough*ringer*cough*...oh sorry MT, just clearing my throat

b) I have a smashed front spoiler from understeer

c) I'm glad that we can all yell at each other across forum lines...

d) I still don't know which I want and none of you have yet to care. That's why I've been hanging out over at NASIOC...they seem to care (about what, I have NO idea--R. Dangerfield)

Haven't we been saying all along that the performance difference between these 2 cars will be very small....and that the "better car" will come down to drivers preference? ....I know I have....

Car and driver predict our evo to be 14 secs. Now they ran a 13.6? Pretty sad when most of us could beat the time done by professionals even with my heavy *** driving

And now that you have brought that up.....

If C&D rated the Sti at a low 13.....knowing how badly the testers are at getting an awd through the 1/4......imagine what the real world owners will be able to get out of it. I bet we will see owners easily getting into the 12's with the Sti stock.....not that 1/4's are worth anything other than for use as a measuring stick...

I love how kids with five years of driving experience can outdrive professional drivers who test cars for a living. Yeah, everybody at Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Road and Track etc don't know how to drive. LOL

I predict a STI owner will break into the 12's completely stock. I hope for the best.

Anyway, I'm very proud of the EVO. That a car with a 29HP disadvantage can win in a road race speaks volumes. Granted, on a less curvey track the HP advantage will help the STI. Let the games begin...

Yep, it happens. When you own a car, you learn how to drive it better than someone who has only been driving the car for a day.

These guys are only pulling low 13s at 105mph.

In my car, I've pulled a 12.88@104.5mph. Less power to weight, but a better E/T. I'va also pulled a 12.64@106.1mph. But then I've been drag racing my car for 5 years now. I have over 250 1/4mi passes on it. And in that time, I've learned how to drag race an AWD car fairly well.

It was pretty much a given that the STi will be faster.
you know with the extra torque down low...
It does have a 2.5... wonder how well this engine will respond to mods. Bigger engine "should" have more potential.

Isn't flaming what started drag racing in the first place??? Mine is better and faster...oh yea...prove it!

I drive an Evo so I will continue to flame the scoobies and would be glad to race my Evo against any modified WRX or Sti.

Talk in your forums, but I will be out on the streets of Austin!.

Automotive writers are hired on their writing skills, not their driving skills/talent level. While there are some race drivers that have turned writers, most often it's good writers that have turned towards automobiles. That's why they will occasionally bring in real race car drivers to help with evaluations.

From my experience, I'm at the top of the curve as far as automotive press (in Japan, and those that are not former pro racers) goes, but that doesn't mean I'm even within a few seconds of the times of a real pro driver in a race situation. It's called focus, and when you are totally focused on that area instead of spread out like automotive press are, you will generally be better than them, whether it be drag racing, rallying, tarmac road courses or fly fishing.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

I am glad the Evolution rated great but lets admit it, we would all be driving STIs if the Evolution was not available.
We are lucky to have not one but two great cars FINALLY!
