subaru enthsiasts have really toned down with the release of these new magazine comparisons. lol, i guess all those ignorant paper racing comparisons made by the subaru AND evo owners has really taught them to SHUT UP. and the US SPEC CRAPPY EVO is being repeatedly ranked higher than the ALL NEW US ONLY STI. its not all about HP ratings - i guess a lot of people are realizing that now??????

Guys, let's not trash the Sti because a magazine rated the Evo over it... don't need a flame war bruing in this thread too. I know for a fact we'd be singing a different tune if the rankings were reveresed.

The acceleration times didn't surprise me. We all knew that the STI would be quicker in a straight line. We all should have known that the EVO would be faster on the track as well, as the scoobies have the reputation to understeer more. I was actually surprised that the STI and the EVO posted the same skidpad #'s. I thought that the EVO would have run better and that the scoobie would've been slightly lower. but for AWD the skidpad #'s aren't too shabby.

My guess is that temperature were cold. Our Advans work like crap if it's not over 70 degrees out.

Car and driver predict our evo to be 14 secs. Now they ran a 13.6? Pretty sad when most of us could beat the time done by professionals even with my heavy *** driving

no flame war, but Subaru people and many CAR ENTHUSIASTS in general were paper racing the EVO and the STI before the STI came out and before anybody even sat in one. AND THEY KEPT BRAGGING ABOUT PARTS - BUT THEY DIDNT KNOW what the SUM of the parts equaled.

now that its here, those same people are eating their words and choking on them. but thats besides the point, both are great cars that are VERY different, and offer very different driving styles and characteristics.

im just mad at people who kept saying that the "EVo isnt worth it with the STI coming out" - a bunch of fake automobile enthusiasts who havent read jack shiet about previous STI's, or they would know that Subaru's are always softer less harsh/ less no holds barred feeling than the EVO. that was the only thing that could be said about the STI before it came out, and now that it is out, that statement STILL holds true. i figured that out months ago by reading a buncha magazines and kinda summarizing the over all point of the 2 cars. these enthusiasts that have never followed subaru or are just not joining the band wagon because of its paper figures really get on my nerves. people who flip a coin toss between the evo and the sti really get on my nerves too. they dont like either of the cars, they just want the cool hip thing thats in.... like a damn fad.

Agreed. Both cars are great and should be respected for what it is. We must not sink to the same level as the Subaru owners at i-club and NASIOC guys. Have a higher class than them.

I would never flame the STI though. I was at the EVO commercial shoot at Irwindale speedway and they had 6 (that's six) STI's lined up outside. I don't know how many people even noticed they were there (off to the side). and after the shoot was over my g-f and I went up to the track to watch them run the yellow "TEST" EVO, and before they started shooting one of the speedway emplyees took an STI for a couple laps. I wish that the other people could have seen it, the thing is insanely loud under WOT and very fast!!!

C n D said that one of our low's was a bad interior.. I will admit it may not be as Fancy or as "showy" as the STi interior.. but it seems to be nicely made and seesm to have good quality..just not all that flashy..

well with the look of the car it will come down to what u like, and the characteristics of the car. I wuold still not trade my Evo for a sti even if it had 350 hp, and run the lap faster then the EVO. Even if they cost the same. but... i really hate the altezza light on my car And kinda geting sick of geting shocked when geting out of my car. But over all, shince i live in minneosta and it cold and snow . The EVO, STI will both do the job

I wouldn't be to quick to attack the STI for it's handling. I though for sure the EVO would lap better than .16 seconds faster. Considering it's got wider tires, stiffer suspension, and the driver has had a lot of experience with EVO's in the past. Still a win, but not as nice as I'd hoped.
