Lets get a GB going on taillights. All you have to do is some organize it and we will assign the price with shipping and get the product for you. We do have 3 sets INSTOCK right now!

Remember, the lights come from Japan, there is a set cost to us no matter what, and we have to occur shipping, credit card fee, and make a profit, So....If you can organize 10-20+ people then it is possible!

Let us know.

So what kind of a deal are we lookin at? Vivids lights are 189 rounded to about 200 with shipping. With 20+ people about how much would we save?

Most group buys I have seen get sponsored by a vendor. That vendor posts a price scale to the board.

0-5 sets = $X
6-15 sets = $X-20
16-25 sets = $x-40

That way, people are encouraged to sign on in hopes that they will get the group to the next higher level of savings.

Care to put up a pricing scale for us all, Vivid? If you are willing, you should set up a new thread on evolutionm.nets Vividracing board.

I'm sure the above was just a random non-specific example, but if in the above example x=$400 (current pricing per set), then the 10% saving you would get with 16-25 people hardly seems worth the effort. I hope it will be more like this:
0-5 sets = $X
6-15 sets = $X-(15 to 20%)
16-25 sets = $x-(35 to 40%)
give or take a bit. Hopefully I'm not too far off of what others have in mind with a group buy...
Lets see what happens, the interest is there....

I wasn't trying to convey any specific discount that we would expect or want.

In the end the discount structure comes down to what the sponsoring vendor is willing to sell at. Though I really doubt you will ever see a 40% discount....but thats just based on the savings I have seen from group buys in the past.

I've been puttnig a lot of energy into finding a good price for VII tails. The problem is with the fact that these parts are OEM. They are not aftermarket knock Pep Boys APC brand knock offs that can be had for $250 for the pair. Cause as everyone knows, OEM = $$.

As a frame of reference, a stock OEM tail light for a regular Lancer is just around $180 (for one cluster) from a Mitsu parts window at a dealer! Now imagine how much it would cost to buy that same part in Japan (where things are generally more expensive to start with), then have it drop shipped to a company in the US who has to cover it's overhead, pay the import tax, and make a small profit. There really isn't a lot of room to wiggle it seems.

I am curious to see what Vivid will come up with. But they don't really seem to be jumping at the idea of the group buy.
