if it was a 5hp or even 10hp diff would u really spend the extra time and $ even though you wouldnt be able to feel the difference.

Im in Germnay right now and have had both... I have about the same mods you do and felt a considerable difference off of my butt dyno.. I had the Works P2R mail in flash, but after that I installed a Nisei IC with all piping, got a custom tune and felt a considerable amount of change.. This was a road tune, so again, I don't have numbers to show.. so I am considering getting another custom tune on a dyno using ECUtek at the Dyno in the next upcoming month.. I'll try and post numbers then.. Anyway, good luck

Get your car tuned on a dyno by a local tuner. It's one of the best things that you can do for the car. A mail-in-flash has its limitations. You spent $ for all those nice parts, why settle for the mail-in flash? It's like a bad investment decision.

Well, you're asking the wrong question. The points that you already "understand" are the more important points. Worrying about which one makes more peak WHP is foolish. You should be worried about which one provides the most area under the curve while being perfectly customized for YOUR car in YOUR conditions with YOUR mods. I've had a base flash on which I went very fast, and I've later had a custom flash, which also was very fast. The base flash was conservative, but strong, whereas the custom flash was *****-to-the-wall per my request. The point is that I could get it tuned closer to the edge safely, since all the logging equipment was there to show all the parameters and their effect on knock. With a mail-in, you just can't do that. It's a great product, but it's still a best guess. If you have no access to a custom tune, get a mail-in or e-flash. If you do have access to a custom tune, then get it.

Btw, Dynoflash will be in LA on the weekend of Sep 2/3 if that matters.

9GUY9, you're saying there are 3 Evo flash tuners in Minnesota alone? I haven't heard of one, and all the guys up there keep asking Dynoflash to come there. Wouldn't expect that if there were already so many Evo flashing experts there...

thanks alot warrtalon. kinda just made up my mind for me. busy schedule and all bieng in the navy...but i think i will be inport for that weekend. It was just kinda of a question of if i wanted to drive up to LA to get flashed, but now there is no getting around it. custom flash is the way to go for me. if i cannot make it to LA I also have Tuning Technologies. but i will look at the sched and if i am free i will sign up on the dynoflash day on that sunday. thanks again. and sorry if this was a repeat question for you.

With those 2 options, you should be able to get a very nice custom tune, so no worries. IF you're going to do the Dynoflash trip in LA, then let me know soon, so Al can book his flight, else it will be postponed.

Tuning Technologies for a custom tune that's where I'd go with the path you've choosen. I went another way, but I made the drive to get my dyno done and they are going to install my other parts when I get them.

OK just for the record....I ALWAYS intstall my own parts. I will be installing my cams...i have already installed swaybar, coilovers, exhaust, intake, Koyo radiator, turbo timer, a fuel pump on my buddies evo, engine mounts on both, lowering springs on his, and boostcontroller with boost gauge. and many other parts on DSM's and a WRX.
im not saying im the best but i think people were thinking i wanted to know where to take my car for intallation. I install all my own parts. i take pride in knowing everything about my car...how to take it apart in 30 min. my question was wether i should get a base flash or custom and all your guys input has led me to go with my first instincts and get a custom.

thanks again for everyones advice.

I know DBperformancetuning.com does them and they are a very trusted tuning shop in the area. Also RS otorsports does EVO dyno tunes, and I'm pretty sure LSE performance does them. Tese joints all have AWD dynos. I am not sure what software they use though.
