I Love my VIII. It was one of mitsubishi's test cars. My wife hates it. She has seen pics of the X and she wants one badly! Could be the first time that my wife has a faster car then me (if she lets me mod the X). I gotta say I love the styling of all the EVOS from the VI on up to the X.

Get a IX, the last of the TRUE Evolutions IMO. Last of the 4G63'd powered, last on a real deal Mitsu platform. The last one that captures the true essence of a LanEvo, the X is as though its been listening to the public TOO much, asking for it to be more luxury or whatever.
The evo has never been a luxury sportscar, its been a no frills no bullsh!t road going rally weapon. They've been getting softer and softer after every model, but in saying that they have been getting more and more refined and polished, which isnt a bad thing at all.

BUT I shall hold my final judgement until the X is released, and the above is only my opinion so dont get offended if you dont agree with it, its just my 0.02 cents lol.

i think that the 8 and 9 will turn into a supra type of thing...the 10 will be over priced and the 8 and 9 will become a sought after item

there will allways be a new car comeing out , all the hipe and everybody wants a new car . comapred to the 8 or 9 the 10 do you think its gonna be 5 sec faster in a road corase and 10 sec quicker in 0-100 , I doint think so . It will have good design, but like old people say , be happy with what you have . cant have everything .

Even if it doesn't it will be the same or better in every possible performance category imagineable. Stop being such pessimists. If you're an Evo fan you should be EXCITED about the X...new engine, new tranny, new platform, new interior, new everything!
I agree the X will be equal to or better thn the 9 in all ways when comparing stock v. stock. I also expect it will come with a better ride and upgraded interior which I would appreciate. I'm not sure the DSG is for me, but again, I appreciate the option. I hope it turns out to be the poor man's M3, if a $32,000 car can be called a poor man's car.

Where the X will struggle mightly is in upgrades. The 4G has been around and is close to bullet-proof in its current form. There are shops that have been working on this engine for 15 years. The new block, even if equal to the current, will take time for the tuners to learn and I wonder if ultimately, it will be as durable as the 4G63.

for now...happy with my 03 VIII...except for the paint..but i am dealing with that. I just painted my calipers and re-cleared them and they look great... and it has been sitting in my pops garage for the last year. I am starting to get her back up and running and i will be throwing 272s in, 660 injectors, and 20g before I can finally start driving her again. I cant wait...it has been killing me!

KEEP IT

The only thing I'm worried about is the resale of my VIII taking a huge dump. I really feel that the X is going to be one of those cars that when you see it in person you will like it way better than any of pictures you've seen.

I agree it will probably take the aftermarket a while to get a good base for it. But, the Z car aftermarket sprung up pretty quickly so, you never know.

Regardless if the X ends up being better or worse I still plan on keeping my 8 for a long time. Who knows, it might end up being a collector car down the road. I do plan on buying a new car in a year or two but I'm still keeping the 8. I've put too much $$ into it so why bother selling it if I'll just loose my pants!! Mine will probably end up being a garage queen.

I love my Evo but have decided to move on and let someone else play with it. I've already done everything I can besides alky and a turbo upgrade, so whoever buys mine is all set up for it. I honestly don't think I'll have a hard time selling it.

The X may end up being a dream car and I'm not really so worried about the exterior styling, more the drivetrain and suspension. They already have it pretty much perfect, why change? Maybe it's just me, but I can't see the X being a rally car either....

Yes they did. I had a '99 Eclipse GSX that I held onto for dear life until the Evo finally came to the U.S. I was worried there for a while.... It's probably why I'm worried now and thinking about getting a good one while I can.. We'll just have to see...

I am also happy with my V/// I will keep her for a while. We should see what the X has to offer. It is an EVO and I dought it will be less then what we think. I just hope the body style is diffrent then what they currently have!

I, too, plan on keeping my 8 for a long while. I'd love to have a 9 and I've thrown around the idea of trading up, but with the $$ I have in the 8, I couldn't do it. In about a year my 8 will be payed off, just in time to consider a X to have in the garage next to it.
