Yes, I feel a free and democratic institution will eventually consider Evolutionary vehiclisim as a prerequisite to the insipidness that prevails today.

I know the original post wasn't mine, but I'm looking to salvage a dying thread...well...flourishing, but in an odd way.

Which do you think will take the lead in sales ? Evo VII or STi?

...Sure hope this works.

ah, a real question...

i think the release dates are the key to this question. If we do see the release date of the evo come before the sti, don't be surprised if subaru bums there's up. Another variable is how big the aftermarket for the standard wrx is by the time the sti comes out. If there's a strong(compedetive) enough aftermarket, look for a lot of potential sti buyers to opt for a built up wrx.

Very true.

Just on speculation alone I'd put Mitsubishi ahead, but mainly because of the reputation of the Evo series...not that the STi isn't equally as impressive, but I think it receives far less hype.

And we all know that hype helps sell things :P

Either that or it hurts.

it only hurts if it doesn't live up to the hype but unless slaughters the evo before they bring it over, i don't see it disapointing anybody.

**** guys.....what about the Mitsubishi GTO? Twin Turbo...AWD....??????

This is the thing...
'm a purist...I really don't want the AYC and the AWD to come over. It'll be a bit cheaper and THEN the STi and VII will actually complete. I don't want the ACD or the AYC because it kinda takes off the feeing of a rally car. I might not get teh Evo because of it...but...i don't waht my STi to be confused with the regular WRX. We'll see exactley what happens when they both hit our shores.

Cursed Fingers!!!!
I meant to say that I don't want the AYC and the ACD to come over. Because i'm a purist. The AYC and ACD take away from the actual rally feel. Not to mention that if they DON'T bring it over...theres 2.5k off the MSRP. oO!

What i mean Blitz...
Is that the purists will not get the Evo, hence making the STi the better option. Yes they compete performance wise...but they aren't going to compete with the demographic that has money. Why pay 3k more for an Evo when you can get an STi for 3k less. Competition with the size of your wallet blitz. There are a lot of factors that go into the competition between the Evo and STi. Price, dealer markups, Handing, safety, and THEN performance. Cauuuuse...i could go and get a Typhoon or a Syclone. Dump the 25k into that car...and we'll see where your Evo stands when i roll up next to you in my Sy. They compete...but there are a lot of angles that need to be covered.

Talking EVO and STi

To a large degree I think the cars will be simular. Although, I have heard the Sti will be here a lot sooner than the EVO... Cheaper too. I really don't think the Sti has the technology that the EVO does. With a few mods and bolt on's you should see power at least to 350-375 hp which as anyone who drives an Eclipse GST (same engine as the EVO) You can spank the current WRX's with little fuss. Mod the GST a little and you can wail on just about anything. It's heavy and less tech. Noting how fast my GST is now at 13.9 in the quarter with only a intake and a blowoff valve. I can only imagine what an EVO stock that pulls mid 12's would feel like. Makes me day dream a little. Of course during the wait I want to purchase the big 16G and all the power goodies I can so I can bolt them right on when the bullet arrives. I know right now at the local drag strip I am going to have to put in a roll cage and a starter kill and the works just for the factory rating. Crap I missed my bus... I aways start writing and loose track of time....

Would that be perhaps the SHORT bus?

The EVO and STi are not about raw 1/4 mile power, if you buy it for that then you are missing on what these cars were truly designed for. Sad for you. I think I am done posting around here. Id much rather lurk the tech pages and the MLR. This rumor forum has gone to the muppets!!

Thumbs down STi VS EVO

Well, Nick maybe you ride the short bus... because you will probably never own an EVO or an STi... You're probably one of those over weight sloppy desk jocks that often ogles over cars, but when it comes down to it you wouldn't know a bolt from you buttocks! You bow to supporting the kids, the morgage and the ever loving wife... but at least you dare to dream.

Why don't you find the forums for MLR (major loosers racing)

AWD = traction = Speed 1/4 or whatever. I plan to put my EVO use 1/4 mile and SCCA Solo 2 racing from which I am a member, but you would probably not know what that is... You can use the car for what you want probably spanking it from a wall poster in your office!
