Speaking of gum vs ice cream....

I am wondering if anybody in Singapore is dying for a taste of gum...
like we, in the US, are dying for a taste of EVO.

I went and test drove the WRX last night and asked about the Sti model. The salesman from Irvine Subaru told me it's on hold for a LONG TIME due to emissions reasons.

I wonder if he just wanted me to get a wrx now though.

Re: EVO and STi

Noting how fast my GST is now at 13.9 in the quarter with only a intake and a blowoff valve. I can only imagine what an EVO stock that pulls mid 12's would feel like. .... [/B]
I dont know if anyone else caught this. I hate to break it to you but the gsx is faster than the gst and you pulling a 13.9 must have been a miracle or your 1/4 mile was not corrected to elevation. Theres no way you'd pull that time wiht just a BOV and an INTAKE. A BOV would give you very little results. Im assuming you'd knock of AT best .3 seconds and thats being generous. NO way in hell you dipped into the 13s.

Im sorry.

xactly, a bov is pretty much all show, you'll get no significant gains from that and you may get 3-8hp out of the intake. basically, whoever told you you were pulling 13's was pullin your leg

I thought a BOV was so water would not go into intake/engine for cold air intake setup.

blow off valve removes pressure bulid up in the intercooler hoses during shifting.

The same would go for masturbation. In ancient times the mayans would contribute to ceremonies by jacking off to relieve pressure build up from not maturbating....ok so imade that up.

They say that a BOV will help prolong the life of the turbo in an engine. When a turbo is spooled up and let off the gas, the built up air pressure has to go some where. W/O the BOV the air pressure will go back out the only way it can, through the turbo. This stops it from spinning, or at least it slows it down. So then when you get back on the gas, you have to get the turbo to spool up again. You can see why this could shorten the lifespan of the bushings in the turbo etc. With a BOV, when you let off the gas and a build up of pressure is present, the BOV will vent it, either to atmosphere or back into the intake.

At least that how I understand it. Correct me if Im wrong.

The reason the BOV could add performance on a DSM is that the stock DSM ones leak at about 16-17 psi (lower for the crappy 2nd gen ones).

Adding an aftermarket one should prevent the boost leak so you can run higher boost and thus more power. Its not a direct relationship, but it can help.

On the other hand, most people buy aftermarket ones for the added sound, and that is pretty stupid IMHO.

On the roll cage, you need one if you go 12.5 or lower. On an EVO that would not be that much of a stretch.

possibly due to the very large amount of honda and acura owners. mitsubishi owners are a very picky bunch- we like quality, not quantity. my first mitsu was a 92 talon turbo (sort-of a mitsu) it ran circles around most cars that dared to step to me. the tire cost became a bit annoying, though! also, we are comparing apples to oranges here- the evo isn't even in the same class as any honda or acura- or is there a stock accord rally car that i'm not aware of?
