I just picked up an 06 evo IX as a commuter or fun car, not sure yet (also have 05 s4)... This is my second evo i had an 03 evo 8 back in 03-04. Back then I chipped it and got 300hp est @ the crank, now im reading you chip and you get 380!?!?! Is that true/real? Also any reco's for HID bulbs? I remember that being standard on the 8 or am i smoking something? Thanks all.

With turbo back exhaust, manual boost controller round 21psi, and reflash you can make upwards of 330whp on 93 pump gas.

 

about 410hp at the crank? is just reflash really 380 at the crank?

 

He's in CA and so are you so let's talk about 91 octane. With just a flash and TBE you'll be right with an '03 with a TBE, flash and cams. These 9's are no joke. Did you ever have your '03 dyno'd? Based on those numbers and the brand of dyno we should be able to give you a pretty decent frame of reference.

 

yeah i did over at vishnu, it dyno'd like 195 then we flashed for like 220 or something... what would this dyno stock? flashed? I notice it feels faster than the 8 did, probably same as the 8 when it was flashed maybe even faster.... Today I went from 5k rpms in 3rd with an 06 vette and hung with him till the end of 4th when he had about a car on me... he gave me a big old suprised thumbs up with a big smile on his face :P

 

On Shiv's dyno you're probably already at 220-230whp in your IX. Figure another 20whp with a flash, but figure another 40-50whp with a full 3" TBE + flash.

BTW...was your old '03 Evo white?

a stock 9 makes 225-230 on shivs dd dyno. with just a flash you make 270. With only tbe and flash you will make 300 whp on 91. The 9s are disgusting.

Did you sell it private party on cars.com? If so I think I emailed you about it. I know the owner was in Concord. If that was you I remember you said it had a flash and Vishnu exhaust and nobody you know could believe it was just a 4 banger because of how it sounded. Sound familair? Anyways congrats on the new IX. It's does EVERYTHING the same or better than the Evo VIII.

 

the unfair thing is that a 9 does not need a fuel pump, cams or cam gears. So very little money is needed to make them fast plus with the flash you can even change your launch control to what ever rpm you want so you can get some real nice easy launches.

 

Thanks, that car only had flash but it was fun, in fact the most fun I have had or ever will was in that car I think, I just sold a modded 00 S4 twin turbo that put out gobs of torque and spun all 4 wheels but it still didn't have the evo's "will make you drive like an *******" suare ; )
