He'd probably get more power out of a tune without mods, then adding a mod without a tune. So, your best bet, is just get a tune.

Varrius, surprisingly enough to me, you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly the point I'm making. He shouldn't think of a tune as a burden - he should think of it as THE MOST IMPORTANT MOD HE CAN GET. Hell, the exhaust is the burden. It costs way more to make the same or less power while making the car federally illegal, drawing attention from cops, and annoying the neighbors.

I personally don't think he should mod his car if he wants big gains out of something like this. He's going to have to shell out some money, if he really wants to notice it. TBE, MBC, and a tune. That can be inexpensive, if you shop around.

If you don't have a local tuner DynoFlash does it for like $300.

Since you have something cryptic in your location, it's hard to quote you a price, but for Dynoflash, here it is:

Mail-in flash = $199 (no, Varrius, not $300)
Custom road tune (you need to live near CT or be in a city where he's tuning) = $375

Same for both. IXs cost more at first when he was recovering investment costs of the TechTom software for the IX ECU.

If you want to go faster but still want to be stockish just get a Road tune. It's a big difference and it's basically stock. TRsut me, I'm bone stock with a flash and I love it. Night and day.

if your just planing an exhaust and intake, then you wont really need a tune. but if you plan on going more then that like boost controller etc. i would recommend it. as wartalon said it would be the best bang for your buck after installing whatever it is you get.

lol, the only mods you truly don't need a re-tune for are:

radiator shroud
tint
stubby antenna
jdm light conversion
Volk wheels

There are lots of things you don't need a tune for, the tune just makes everything optimal. IMO the intitial flash is the most important, it gets rid of the pig rich stock fuel table and adds some timing.

When some of you start tuning a little bit yourselves you'll understand what I'm talking about. Certain things that you put in require very minute to no changes at all.
