mods that doesnt need a tune.

i dont really race or take my car to the track but i do wanna slightly mod it just for the hell of it. i have heard you dont need a tune for a drop in filter and an exhaust. i was wondering what other type of mods can i do with the car that doesnt require a tune? i dont wanna spend like $150 on a mod and spend more money on a tune just to make my $150 mod run right. any help would be appreciated.

Those are all good, but in the end, a tune is the MOST important mod and gets you the most for your money. Why would you be more worried about the mods themselves than getting a tune when the tune makes the most power per dollar?

That's definitely not the solution. He'd still be buying the SAFC, which is just like getting a flash, but not nearly as good. He doesn't know how to tune it himself for future mods, and that would require buying a datalogger and wideband o2. His point was to avoid extra costs.

well that's because i dont think a tune is really necessary if im gonna stay stock with maybe like just 1 or 2 bolt ons. just wanna know what type of mods can be bolt on without a tune and maybe in the future if i wanna take my car to another level then a tune will be manditory.

i agree w/the tune.. basically thats what i have in my car right now (look up dynoflash), it added very decent power for $199

no other bolt on mods will make as much as the tune

Well your answer is nothing. Ever power mod needs a tune. You can do and Shift Nob Springs, all those kind of stuff. If you Want to get a exhaust why not just go for BR stage one? Save a lil more and get that. Your car will run Safe to.

not to nitpick, but exhausts dont necessarily need to be tuned

You dont need an intake or intercooler pipes....

Exhaust and a tune will make your car feel pretty good. Or even as others said, just a base-flash will make a good difference.

Of if you dont want to spend any money start taking lbs off your car.

I dont get what is so bad about getting a tune. I see what youre saying... dont want to spend $xx on a part and $xx to make it work (with a tune). You should not look at it that way. Youre going to spend $xx on a part and $xx on a tune and youre going to gain A LOT from BOTH.

Unfortunately for you, this is not an LS1 or an old DSM where you can just throw on modifications like exhaust and gain all of this power. The car will benefit THE MOST from a tune. Some stock IX's have gained 30+whp! Getting the tune will be the best money you spend. It will make the biggest difference.

Ask any guy on here who has an IX with just exhaust (TBE) and a tune and they will tell you its the best thing you can do and you will NOT regret it.

I disagree, there are plenty of things you can do without getting a tune, but I wouldn't do anything huge like an exhaust without tuning for it. It's not the safety issue with me, it's the money per hp, and the tune is a lot of hp for your money.

The big point is he will gain lots of power from a tune even in stock form! Regardless of how much modding u want to do (little or lots) a tune is where u get alot of your power from. In stock form i seen evos gain easily 35whp just from a tune.
