Smile Passport G-Timer...???

Hey Guys,

Has anyone here used the Passport G-Timer (vehicle performance computer) ?

It is capable of measuring a number of performance parameters including but not

limited to: acceleration/braking/lateral G-forces, 0-60, 1/8mile, 1/4mile and so on.

I purchased one and use it often while driving my IX (it's addictive) & I was wondering

if anyone knew how accurate it is.

My car was tuned by Turbo Trix (354AWHP) & according to the

G-Timer I have achieved a registered a couple of 1.60 60ft & a 3.37 0-60mph. Now

these numbers were achieved after numerous attempts & I was'nt too confident in the

accuracy of the device so I hooked it up to my 97' 993 twin turbo. The magazines

claim that the 993 is capable of a 3.9 0-60mph. While I am not going to beat the sh*t

out of my 993 I still got off some pretty aggressive launches and was expecting to

blow away the times I achieved with the Evo but to my surprise the best I could do

was a 4.40 0-60!!! I'm sure with more practice I could get that time down but to

3.37...I doubt it.

My next question is if these numbers are accurate is my Evo that fast or are these

numbers common with this state of tune???

I had one of those g-tech pro, and it didn't seem accurate at all. I tried it on my wrx, but i'm pretty sure i would get the same inaccurate results in the evo. Only ones that I can see could be accurate are the GPS linked ones.

Thumbs down

DO NOT BUY IT. I HAVE IT AND IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK. IT'S NOT ACCURATE WHEN IT COMES TO WHP. I did a 4th gear pull to 120 and it read 240 whp. I have a heavy modded evo with a 3076R. I ran a new M6 with no problem so I know I have way more whp than that. it also does not read torque.

it's only good for calculating G-force.

OK but...

Hey Guys,

I understand what you are saying regarding HP readings but my point is regarding acceleration times. The bottom line is that the 0-60 times displayed were extremely conservative with the 993 & even my 03' M3 0-60 times were above 5sec. . So it would stand to reason that the Evo times whether accurate or not were better by far. I guess I'm curious to know what 0-60 & 60ft times you guys with comparable HP
are getting (354HP)??? undefined

I heard mixed results, some good some bad. Some people ran it on the track and the 1/4 mile results were about .01 off, also if done correctly, the hp numbers were very similar, compared to dyno results. I'm looking into getting the Beltronics Vector FX2.

any of those iMO will not be exactly accurate. i would not waste ure money on one...plus they take up space. i would just get ure car dynoed and like go to a 1/4 mile pad somewhere and get accurate readings.

or with like 1/2 of the money for one of those you could get a tyte radar-detector..and velcro it to ure dash.(looks better IMO)
