Cincinnati lawyer/help for a ticket?

Need help getting out of a ticket in Cinci-Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Story is below:

I received a ticket a couple days ago while traveling through Cinci-I had just crossed the border of kentucky/ohio & was going 73 in what I thought was a 65-Turns out it was 55 anyways I got a ticket for the whole thing-73 in a 55-The problem is that I have a ticket in michigan that is under advisement & if I get this one for 18 over I get a careless too!-8 points combined Bamm! NOT GOOD Really need some help!!! It says on the ticket that i have pay the fine or go to court @ 1:00 next Friday-they sure don't give you much time & give the court date on the spot wild!

Thanks!

Go to court and plea not guilty. You'll get another court date. Go to the next court date and also plea not guilty. Two things may happen: It will get dismissed if the police officer was unable to appear or they will likely amend it to a lower mph speeding infraction..then plea no contest to the amended charge
I'm going to send you a pm.

That's probably not what he wants to do, since he's from Michigan. I imagine part of the need for a lawyer was to have someone handle it so that he doesn't have to appear.

It would cost way less making the trip to Cincinnati a few times. He'd have to hire a private attorney. If he doesn't want to make the trip, suck it up and pay the ticket out.

Money isn't always the issue. Time can be more valuable under different circumstances. Just saying that not having to appear *and* getting out of the points might be his priorities (at least that's how I read it from the OP).

Won't happen. You can't plea not guilty and not show up for your actual trial date. You can have a lawyer wave your presence in certain circumstances but an actual trial date where your hoping for an ammended charge is not one of them. He needs to be there and show that he is ready to procede. They ammend charges to save time and avoid silly trials.

Man, this isn't even my thread and the replies are making me scratch my head. Did you even read the OP? If he has this ticket stick, he gets an instant *8* points on his license, and probably gets crushed on insurance for the next 3 years. It's pretty easy to see why he wants to spend the money to make this one go away.

Eh, I know someone that has gotten a ticket bumped down to a no-points fine without ever being present. I imagine a lot of it has to do with where it is handled, and who is handling it. I don't know as it ever made it to "trial" either, I just know he stayed home and the ticket was reduced.

pay the ticket and take and see if there are any driving classes to remove some points off of your record

Well the question to ask is does the state of michigan check for tickets outside of your state. Here in Ky, where you happened to get pulled over, if you get a ticket outside of the state and just pay the fine you are done. Nothing more, no court attendance, just out some cash.

Now if the tickets come back to your state -- i would highly recommend the path of going to traffic school to get this one off your record. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies! I need this ticket gone! Whatever it is going to take-Yes Michigan has reciprocity w/ 48 of the 50 states & Ohio is one of them!

I was traveling back in my truck keeping w/ the flow of traffic 3rd (& last vehicle) in a row & I got pulled over

I was returning from purchasing a new high performance boat & if this sticks my insurance on the boat will be about $15,000-20,000/year (instead of about $5-8)-Not to mention my car insurance on 4 cars etc....This is a BIG money deal for me.

We don't have "classes" in Michigan to reduce points etc...Not sure how traffic school/classes etc... works in Ohio/Cinci

Thanks again for everyone's help!!
