Exclamation EVO a good daily driver???

Hye guys, I am new to the forum but not new to the EVO. I have only been able to get a ride in an EVO 6 in Jamaica (whoa), but with the dealers acting the way they are, not in the EVO 8. This is my dream car but is it feasible to have it as my one and only daily driver after trading in/selling my present car??? (Thats the only way I can get it!)

What have some of your other vehicles been? If they've only been Honda Accord type cars, you won't like it. It's definitely a stiff and harsh ride, but if you're used to driving sports cars, it'll be ok.

I love it. I have no problems driving this car every day. Actually, I have a tough time getting out of it. I just want to drive ! !

Well I had a 96 VW Golf (Eibach springs) which was not too bad (bouncy) and the next and most recent is the Accord which is pretty comfortable, so I am only afraid that having gotten used to the comfort that I won't love my EVO! I am sure driving it would be great, but in NY state with these bad *** roads it makes me think twice!

(Thanks guys.....I really appreciate your quick feedback! )

I live in New york.
I drove mine in late March and it did 6 years worth of paint damage. This paint is the worst(weakest) I have ever seen. At least wait until the roads are clear of salt and sand. I can't imagine driving this car in bad conditions.(road debris) I think this paint was intended for places like Florida and Califronia. other than that the car is great.

PS Local roads will make you **** blood. State roads are much smoother. Avoid local roads. Erie county New York pay the highest taxes in the country and have the worst roads in the country.(?????)

Question

I'm gonna chime in here and ask a question.

How is the Evo in heavy traffic? I know traffic sucks in any car but is the Evo really a pain to drive in traffic? Or is is just like other stick shift cars? Do any of you sit in heavy traffic on a daily basis on you're way to work? Thanks alot for anwsers.

i guess any car that's street legal is feasible as a daily driver. but i love my cars too much so I bouth a POS beater that gets great gas mileage!
I partly agree with skibum. The Evo does provide a harsh ride, but on most highways and freeways and even local roads I don't mind at all. But there's one road in particular that jolts the hell out of me. No potholes but just a poorly paved and preped road. Lots of small dips pass kidney stones in this car.

Thanks Skibum, looks like I have to really think about getting the EVO for now (damnit!) because though I am new to the area (from FL), I def. have seen firsthand the damage that salt and sand can do. The love of the EVO is strong though...so maybe after acouple of bank heists, I can afford to have it as a 'summer car'

stop and go doesn't bother me in the EVO any more then any other MT vehicle. I just hate the thought of going so slow when I have the potential to be going so fast.

The EVO can't be (much) worse as a daily driver than something like an RX-7 right? Those have some of the stiffest stock suspension I've experienced, and they're still "liveable" for the under-40 sports-seeking buyer.

I imagine like the WRX you just need to get used to keeping the revs over 2500-3000 to stay in an acceptable powerband, but the triple-cone synchros in the lower gears should make downshifting much smoother than in the Subies.

I have the joy pretty much every night of stop and go traffic and I have no issues with the Evo. The factory clutch is soft so it doesn't kill your leg. As a daily drive it has been good so far and as mentioned it's fun to drive and you don't want to get out of it.

The EVO is not my daily driver or my beater and I've put over 2,000 miles going nowhere! Trips to get milk are now 70 to 80 miles drives which is hard to explain to my wife as the store is one T-shot and an easy 3-iron away.

The car is very docile in traffic and easy to relax in. See if you can test drive one or hitch a ride with an owner hanging around here.
